Slightly off-topic, but this guy's boyish enthusiasm is great.

I'm sure we share his enthusiasm.

  3. What I found interesting is, though haven't gone thru a lot of comments, there is no mention of Clarity which is a more head to head competitor with Volt.
Honda needs to get the words out.

Tesla whichever model is in a different category, and many people who buy a Teslas have their mind already set and won't listen, like I can never convince anyone who's buying an iPhone to get an Android. My friend who leased a BMW just because she wanted to have a BMW.
Of course, there are some smart shoppers like who's reading this post.

@mcdull LOL I like it when we pat ourselves on the back. Everyone will have their own criteria/taste. I almost bought a Prius Prime before knowing that the Clarity exists. Honda does need to have the words out.

I think the Clarity commercial is quite boring. I didn't notice it until I actually considered it. Then when I saw it again, I said oh, that is the car I'm considering. I remember seeing it but never really noticed it.

I had absolutely no idea that the Clarity existed until I saw it on the list of cars that qualify(ied) for the provincial rebates. I literally said to myself, "What the heck is a Honda Clarity???"

Then found a few reviews, including @Viking79 and the rest is history!

LOL, you were the first person online that I "talked to" about the Clarity, on RFD. :)

I was originally wanting the Tesla 3 but with a year or more wait and the cost, I started looking at alternatives. I had no idea the Clarity existed until I spent a day or so looking at reviews and videos on youtube.

I love my Clarity but damn -- that app for the Chevy Volt is far superior over Hondalink. And it has a LTE radio in it as well.

Seems like he doesn't even know the clarity exists... Tesla 3 and Volt are like apples and oranges.

When shopping for PHEVs, stopped at a Chevy dealer and mentioned I was interested in their Plug-in Hybrid, but not sure if it was the Volt or Bolt. He brought a Bolt...

I've taken a lot of flack from my friends for getting a "hybrid". I think what I initially noticed about the clarity was that it has a much longer all-electric range than the usual hybrids.

I explain the clarity as an electric car with a gas motor for extended range. I'm able to do an all electric commute during the week and still have the option to go farther on the weekends thanks to the gas motor option.

Tell them it’s NOT a hybrid; it’s a PLUG IN Hybrid or PHEV that can go for months on electricity alone if you don’t have any out of town trips.
Hybrids run their gas engines almost all the time while PHEVs seldom run their gas engines unless they’re taking a trip longer than 50 miles.

@pinrut, what cars do your flack-giving friends drive? I'll be surprised if any of them achieves north of 30 mpg.

Well I used to be into sports cars, so the switch to a "hybrid" surprised them

Someone asked him on YouTube and he said he hated the looks, especially the wheel covers. Weird that he didn't mention the Clarity though if his goal is mostly EV driving

  21. He made a video to justify his purchase (he has driven only 120miles), but rejected another serious competitor just by the look doesn't make him that smart.

However, I do think Honda should seriously consider removing that wheel cover, they didn't explain the purpose of that but it's definitely turning away potential buyers.

  22. That's most people think of hybrid, but even most supercar makers have hybrid supercars now.

It’s purely for aerodynamics; not for aesthetics. Doesn’t bother me, I’m a Bucky Fuller fan; form follows function.
