VW's first reneging was when they were only going to sell 15% electrics in the US by 2025. Now its saying it is only going to be 3 million electric globally total by 2025. This company sucks beyond belief, it is apparently run by liars and thieves. Also Germany is apparently getting rid of clean nuclear to incredibly replace it with more coal and natural gas neither of which is even remotely competitive on price or any other measure with battery backed solar any where in Germany and hasn't been for years. That's kowtowing to Trump who recently said "Germany was totally controlled by Russia because it got 60-70% of its energy from Russia in natural gas" when in reality the total is less than 10%. But incredibly it supposed to buy more from a Russian gas pipe. Is it a signatory to Paris or not?

Meanwhile Armco is trying to spread the nonsense that more efficient ICE cars will be preferred to electric cars- nothing could be further from the truth- and ICE will never be remotely cost competitive.

Finally we have Tesla outselling Porsche in units this year and outselling Jaguar by 2x and stomping BMW. Someone would have to be stupid to buy a $106,000 BMW M5 over a 20-25K cheaper and much better M3P. All the German car makes are getting totally stomped across the entire spectrum of luxury lines in the US and already globally. In the US Tesla is dominating completely Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Jaguar, Infinity and Jaguar. In the US Tesla has been outselling the BMW 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 series combined, possibly throw in the 6 and 8 series. Its been outselling the most popular series of Mercedes, BMW and Audi combined. The shorts are the stupidest people on the planet.

  3. All the companies with promises of X million EVs in 5-10 years are all guessing at this point. Once the market turns, they all will be chasing it. The price for batteries is the main problem for low priced EVs and that will be worked out with economies of scale and new battery chemistries.

We need to get the other 99% of the population to buy them.

  4. The whole thesis of this thread is this sentence. Do you have links to each of these forecasts so we can judge them?

Sorry should have included them. The first one will be harder to find but it was when VW was in talks with its dealers in the US maybe a year to 6 months ago. The other one where they claimed they 3 millions cars total by 2025 was just a few days again. I'll look. I saw it and it pissed me off but I should have captured the link.

  6. Wasn't that already determined back in 2015?

Yep but despite all the bluster by the German state there has been no change just hot air marketing fluff to further deceive the public.
It needs its charter pulled. It assets should be auctioned off to green start ups at zero cost. Let the share holders sue the management.
