Was nice to keep the filters I had bought for my 09 Civic when the Clarity came home. Assuming that the drain bolt (and thus the drain washer) will also be the same.

Does Honda have one common filter for all or most of their cars?

I've used this same Honda model (Identified earlier by Kentucky Ken) in Civics and in a 2002 MDX. It may fit other models too.

My oil change at the Honda dealer with full synthetic is about $30. In other words the same price I can do it for myself. They add tire rotation and both are less than $60. Not a big deal. I will change myself once warranty is out most likely, but both dealer oil changes I have had them do other repairs (fix noisy HVAC fan and HV range software update).

Most, yes. In fact, Honda has used the same oil filter thread diameter and pitch, and same filter gasket diameter, on most of their autos and nearly all of the motorcycles for many years. I use the same filter on my Ridgeline and my Honda m/cs. :)

In case this wasn't already posted, 17mm socket needed for oil drain bolt.
Oil Filter Mount faces forward and drain faces backward.
Both near centerline of oil pan.
Metal cover needs to removed to see oil pan.

Unless that second picture is deceptive, that's the most room I've had around the filter in five Hondas!

Since the clarity is used mostly on ev mode i wonder how long I should wait before changing oil. I also wonder about battery longevity since it is being recharged every day to max and drained to min everyday. Wonder if anyone here has driven over 50 k miles in this manner and has seen or noticed anything interesting regarding battery charge hold.

This has been covered in several other threads. Basicaly, the BMS will not let the battery fully discharge not will it let it fully charge. We only get to use approximately 14 to 14.4 kW of the total battery capacity of 17 kW. We are also limited to a maximum of about 7.2 kW/hr charging in a 32 Amp Level 2 EVSE which is only a value of 4.2C or so. So our max charge rate in no way will over stress our battery, especially with liquid cooling.
So charge away with no worries.

Also, the error in the maintenance minder that greatly underestimates the remaining oil life has been documented in other threads. Please open a case with Honda so we can get them to fix this as we did with the HV range error.
Here’s the link to the thread that has the link to making the case with Honda.

Small engine in a large car = room to work.

    Thanks!

  15. Honestly I’m thinking that they went out of there way to make sure the engine was noisy enough that you opt for a full electric for your next car. This engine is an economy engine used in there most basic cars in Japan. I don’t blame them, though I do appreciate the ease of locating components. I’m going to change oil tomorrow. If I have time, I will make a video.

Which mass-production, full-electric Honda is the company guiding us to with the use of that engine (which I can barely hear)? I've already written a letter to Henio Arcangeli, begging him to bring Honda's Urban EV to the US. There don't seem to be any other full-electric Honda vehicles visible on the horizon at this time.
