I could be wrong, what follows is just my opinion but it sure looks like the Ontario gov cut out a cap and trade program that benefited EV uptake and the public to increase subsidies to petrol fuel energy. This would be like subsidizing heroin dealers and then cutting roads and schools to increase subsidies to heroin dealers and claiming it was done to help working families. They don't believe in picking winners and losers but they do believe in supporting crime.

People need laws that allow the instant removal of government including prime ministers or presidents and hold them in prison until formal long term sentences are handed down for this kind of corruption. My hope is the next US admin uses the US army to immediately shut the Canada pipelines and then bulldozes the pipelines coming from Canada and then comes up with a bill for damage done and levies it against those Canadian companies responsible for the crime of the pipelines. Like to see 100000% tariffs on these and tar sands. Hope we get similar laws that criminalize petrol fuel energy outright in the US. If the Supreme Court gets in the way hope they bulldoze that too. They can burn the constitution and bill of rights too because these documents are failing us, we apparently need something 10x better, a very minimum starting point would be the Universal Declaration of Human rights. Certainly strip the elitism out of the senate and pack the court providing an even number with all new justices. We need a reboot and a society that isn't based on trying to control people with money.

Noticed that Ireland just became the first state to fully divest petrol.
Very clear cognitive framework for current petrol fuel energy: petrol is slavery. It got us to about 1950 but after that it was slavery and just an attempt to roll back the US Civil War and civil rights and go back to the plantation because the wealthy could no longer justify their status- still can't. Its the new antebellum cotton with the same nonsense genocidal right to exploit asserted to back up slavery behind it. Sorry, NO!

Not so fast 101101. Like the U.S. Canada and the province of Ontario have "first past the post" electoral systems. The problem is that when you have more than two viable parties contesting an election, one party can win a majority with 40% or even less of the popular vote. The provincial Ford gov't was elected with around 40% of the popular vote which means that 60% of the voters chose more progressive parties. The previous federal cowboy petrol state gov't of Stephen Harper got a majority with 38% of the popular vote. So please don't tar all Canadians with the same brush.

Many Canadians are also appalled by the tar sands projects and the pipelines needed to move the gunk. The otherwise progressive NDP provincial gov't of Rachel Notley had to defend the tar sands and pipelines in order to stand any chance of being re-elected. Alberta has very much a petrol state cowboy component like Texas. On the federal level Trudeau needs the vote from out West to be re-elected in next year's federal election. A fine mess this is!

The oil companies, arms manufacturers and banks are the real shadow government of both countries and nothing will change when they have only two major political parties to buy off. True democracy will only be restored with electoral reform and I doubt they would let that happen.

Some think Ross Perot elected Bill Clinton to the Presidency. There is data suggesting Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders elected Donald Trump. Bernie was not on the ballot but some stroked resentment leading to non-voters or Bernie voters for Stein.

Bob, that fits with what Paul K wrote. But I think it was the converse in an important way. I think the Democratic nomination should have gone to Bernie but got vetoed by party plutocrats the same way Hillary got vetoed by the electoral college by even though she won by the 4th largest margin in history on the actual election (popular vote) She was still a suck candidate but the country is going left- Bernie beat her by a greater margin than she beat Trump but the same corrupt dynamic played out. Except in her case I think the EC mad the right decision and I think it was based on what Anonymous said they would do and did do through Kim Dot Com. The EC just found out she was serious about a captured (her being captured by two Mid East states, one beginning with a S and the other an I.) and incredibly stupid war in Iran, where her group says Trump was captured by Russia. Russia was just trying to prevent WWWIII by interfering, just like the US has many times in the past and would have done, given the stakes, if the tables were turned. Some how its idiotically not a problem if AG Farben or Monsanto or Exxon want to buy an election but its cheating if another state does. Corporations are not citizens but more and more they inflicting private toll road taxation and capture of law on the citizenry on behalf of the wealthy.

I think Bernie totally destroyed Hillary in the primaries she simply stole the primaries in the most gross way imaginable you could see this in the total non energy and non attendance at her rallies vs Bernies which were much better attended than Trumps or anyone elses. All the fake liberals came out too- Krugman was horrible, true colors showing. Certain Bernie would have destroyed Trump. I really hope that Hillary's theft of the primary comes out in what comes up with things like the Russia Investigations. I was one that voted for Stein in the end. She couldn't even get Bernie as a VP after the theft of the primaries. But honestly between the hand grenade Trump and the DINO Hillary, I'll take Trump as a huge middle finger to the sell out phoney natural gas selling progressivism Hillar represented. Hillary ironically incredibly seemed to be more of a petrol shill and more conservative than Trump at times. I don't care that much about social progressivism (it too often doesn't run deeper than the surface) and absolutely reject the idea that political and economic progressivism are a means to a social progressive end. She was utterly ridiculous on this stuff seemed to be pushing the captured Romney agenda with Iran. Was only willing to raise taxes on the non contributing wealthy by about a trillion over 10 years on 200 trillion of GDP- half a percent. She was right of Obama who was right of Reagan on many things. She was horrible on free speech but at least would have been on the surface pro neutrality. Her brand seemed to be about proving that a woman could be tough and conservative while ignoring the issue of people being enslaved- conservative while running as a democrat! She came across as a robotic bought and paid for concubine but also a let them eat cakes Marie Antoinette. Nothing more useless than a neo-liberal politicians.

Unlike some, I actually do believe that those who compulsively post pointless wall-of-text rants to internet forums can lead useful and productive (offline) lives. ;)

Even if it looks like 'rope.' <grins>

I have to be careful what I post to keep it brief. About once a week I'll proof my own posts and trim out a paragraph or so. Sad to say, I don't always choose the best because is hard work to write brief.

Regardless, I was hoping to share the Mueller indictment:

Long, this is a deep dive into how the Russians did their part of the 2016 election.
