I used my generic Bluetooth scanner with OBD fusion app on my iPhone. It works. Just not a lot of useful info on the default screens and I haven’t had time to do any more tinkering.

No issue with it cutting out though.

 

I also have plugged in a generic Bluetooth scanner and connected it to Torque. Haven't spent a lot of time but one of the first things that I noticed was that throttle position for EV is separate from ICE. When the engine is running you have throttle position but when using EV there is no data. Honda apparently has a number of PID's that they use which are difficult at best to get. I plan to spend some time looking at this further. Also, there is a program (that is NOT working right now due to Google restrictions) called ODB2AA that will let you take Torque data and display it on Android Auto.

 

Does any of the OBD data show, or could be used to compute ICE hours?

 

I have tried ScanTool Bluetooth that I purchased a number of years ago and also borrowed a friend BlueDriver OBDII and have been very disappointed as they give nothing new or exciting (for Hondas) compared to the scanner you can borrow at your local Autozone. Was about to give up until I looked into ScanGuage again (not to be confused with ScanTool) and it claims that it can pull a wealth of information from the hybrid portion of the car:

DC-DC Converter Temperature (°F)
Generator Motor Speed (RPM)
HV Battery Cell Max State of Charge (%)
HV Battery Current (Amps)

Here are my concerns about spending 150 bucks on a OBDII sensor (when all others cost around 20 bucks):

Called and confirmed:
1-no bluetooth or wifi connection ability
2-therefore no app
3-no way to download the data to text or csv file (no connection to a laptop)
4-Have to send it back in and pay $25 each time there is a firmware upgrade
5-if you purchase off the shelf and the firmware is old then see number 4 (rep did say that if this happens to call back in and they would look at possibly
sending you a free replacement.
6-rep had never heard of the Clarity (imagine that), could not confirm that it would or would not work on the Clarity and would not let me talk to anyone else
specifically about the compatibility of the car.
7-Bottom of the page says they are looking for testers for Honda/Acura. Asked rep how do I sign up and she said after you buy the Scanguage, fill out the
form. I said what happens if it doesn't work with my car and she said it that the engineers will work with me to try to get it working and if not I could get
a refund within 30 days.

So I guess point 7 is within reason, but still is a leap of faith for a product that is over a decade behind in interface, connectivity and data collection options.

I was wondering does anyone have a ScanGuage and verified that any of these items worked on any Honda Hybrid. Here is the link:

I would have stopped asking questions after #4, but probably really after #1.

 

We need someone to go find all the Honda hybrid unique PIDs, maybe someone has for Accord hybrid already? If so, I would start there.

Or similar.

 

I have a ScanGauge II with older firmware, but I still get RPM, engine coolant temp, and instantaneous MPG.
Those are the priorities, but I could use more.
Debating whether to invest in something else or upgrade firmware.

 

Will the manufacturer make it clear when the firmware has been updated to read Clarity-specific codes?

 

I am working with the XGauge engineer at ScanGauge even as we speak. He sent me a data logger that I connected to the car and let run for 30 minutes and then I sent it back. For the last week or so he has been sending me coding to test and I report back. We have a couple working and there is some very interesting things going on. Continuing to work on the others but it takes time, Honda makes it very difficult to decipher. Will post some off the observations of the PIDs we have working in the next day or two.

Hold off on upgrading the firmware. The work we are doing will result in a new firmware release above the current 4.50.

I used PIDs from the Accord hybrid, some worked. Most didn't. I'm not at 4.50 though, and I was going to send mine in for a firmware upgrade. After seeing your post, I'll wait awhile longer. Thanks.

Any more information from Anthony or anyone on this? New to the Clarity, and am missing the information that can be obtained in my Nissan Leaf from LeafSpy app.

I will post an updated list of PID’s tomorrow. It seems that we have hit a wall and can’t get any further. Not really sure if much time is being put towards the Clarity since it is a niche car.
