I'm wondering if anyone knows of a hidden setting to configure the sensitivity of the Clarity's built in BT mic?

I've been getting some complaints during conference calls and highway driving for ambient noise. I initially assumed that the car was equipped with noise canceling but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks for any input you may have.

I thought I read somewhere that the Clarity has active noise cancelling similar to those expensive headphone to remove some low frequency droning noise

I'll dig around and see if I can find anything on that. I'm also wondering if it may be my mobile phone, a Galaxy S7 Edge. I will play with the Speed Adjustment Volume control and see if that has any impact.

In the Canadian Brochure under Comfort & Convenience, there is a feature listed 'Active Noise Control (ANC)'.

This webpage shows Honda Active Noise Cancelling (not sure if it's the same as the Clarity Active Noise Control)

and this 'Active Sound Control' for the Accord

My wife and I actually think it sounds excellent on both ends! We’re both using an IPhone X, so it’s important to note the phone you’re using while experiencing issues.

    Check out Settings->System->Voice Recog.

The ANC is to reduce the overall noise inside the cabin. It has nothing to do with the mic.

But it is the microphone that picks up the overall noise in the cabin.

  11. Not necessarily the same microphone.

Not necessarily exactly on point, but:

I noticed a smart feature while I was using Siri through CarPlay and the heater fans were blasting. Right after the prompt came on waiting for my instructions the fans turned down noticeably while I spoke and turned back up when I was done.

I have excessive noise using bluetooth phone calls. I made a complaint to a Honda dealer, they said they couldn't duplicate the problem but will replace the microphone soon. I'll take my car there this weekend to replace the microphone and see if that solve the issue. I also make a complaint to Honda, and they said they would look into it.

We had this problem originally with our Clarity. Hold down the power button on the head unit until it reboots. That should cure it. In case you ask, that is the only time we have had to reboot our head unit since we got the car in December so it doesn't seem to be a recurring problem.

    Thanks @loomis2 for your suggestion.
I do not have a button on the entertainment system, it's all touch screen based. There is an audio icon on the screen, though, is that what I need to press and hold on to to reboot the head unit?

Yes. I believe it is on the top left area of the screen. While it isn't a normal, physical button it still will act like one when you hold it for a few seconds. The rebooting process takes some time but it should work correctly after it is done.

We have had similar issue with the receiving end of calls reporting a kind of background chattering static type noise. I had my wife make a call to me while she was driving and I described the noise as hundreds of people talking at once in the background...very annoying! It only happens via bluetooth by the way, calls made via Car Play are perfect.

In troubleshooting this I found it gets much worse at anything over 40 mph. It happens on both our Iphone 8 +'s. So the dealer tested our phones with another Clarity and they work fine, no noise via bluetooth.

So the dealer after much discussion with Honda Tech agreed to replace the Infotainment System which is a shocking $3,500 part. Have not had the replacement installed yet but am hoping that fixes the issue...without messing up anything else!

Did you try my suggestion for your car?

Not near the car for awhile but will try that when we get back. Thanks

Same issue for me. My wife and I both have iPhone 7+’s.

I want to follow up on my post on this problem of excessive background noise when calling over Bluetooth in the cabin. I did a head unit reset per @loomis2 suggestion and that did not fix the issue. So I brought my car back to the dealer for the second time as they said they would replace the microphone and that might fix the issue. Well, that didn't go well either. First of, the technicians were arguing with me that they couldn't duplicate the issue I don't understand the issue I had. Second, after there was obvious issue as my recording showed them, they argued that it was Apple problem with their iPhone (we use iPhone 7+) software/firmware issue. And the finger pointing game was going on. Third, they again failed to acknowledge that there is a problem but insisted on there was not any issue that they know of.
The dealer's Customer Relation Manger has wrote me a letter asking me to bring back the car, for the third time. I'm still thinking about that, as they are such a waste of my time.
In the meantime, my letter wrote to Honda has been acknowledged that they received my complaint, but no one has contacted me in any form of communication just yet.
    Stay tuned.

I will say we are an Android family so there were no iphones on either end of the connection.
