The evhip program has just been cancelled in ontario. Any car not registered and plated by July 11 will not receive the incentive.

    Question according to point 2
    • Inventory that dealers have on lots or orders made by dealerships with manufacturers on or before July 11, will also be honoured for the incentive provided that the vehicle is delivered to consumers, registered, and plated by September 10.
Does it mean that anyone who is still waiting for an order placed prior to July 11th and gets the car on September 10th is fine? Does this include anyone that has an open order such as next Touring available? Or does it have to be specific like Grey Touring? I'd like to know the answers to those questions.

I wonder who’s going to organize any opposition? Who cares that the average driver in Ontario can have more reliable and cheaper to operate cars while emitting a fraction of the CO2?

The order is between the dealer and manufacturer. If your dealer has already ordered a car and you are assigned that car, then the rebate applies.

Any new car that the dealer orders is not eligible for the rebate; the announcement allows for dealers to sell their existing inventory while not expanding it.

The dealers had a little bit of time to express their concerns to the government and it looks like they were able to eliminate their inventory losses.

I'm only mentioning the broad statement one. What if the car coming in is not technically an order to the manufacturer. It could be say a car arriving in August that was just one of the ones Honda decided to give to a dealer. No order, but some guy with an order say June gets assigned it. Is it still valid even though it isn't technically his order (which may or may not be fulfilled).

I'm not sure what counts as an "order." In your example, there was some pre-existing agreement between dealer and manufacturer so maybe that counts as an "order."

I don't know how this could be enforced. As a customer, I would have no idea if the car I am assigned was "ordered" prior to July 11.

The enforcement issue is probably why the deadline of 60 days is so tight.

It seems it would come down to what actual documents are required to be submitted to qualify. Do those documents describe the color and trim level? Do the color and trim level appear on more than one of the required documents? If they don't match, then it would seem the car sold was not the car ordered.

I guess that makes sense. As long as your deposit/deal summary has the listed car and dated before July 11th, you should be fine. I'm looking at the form, it states B3 (Date of Vehicle Order) which I'm assuming you put in your deposit/deal date it is good enough.

    Documentation required
    Application
Copy of sales agreement (I have a deal summary, assuming this is the same)
    Copy of vehicle registration
copy of other electric vehicle registrations for which the applicant received an incentive
void cheque if you wish to receive an EFT
Completed extended mileage demostrator log form (required for extended mileage demo vehicles only)

I am getting the car I ordered in May this Tuesday, so I should be ok from what I read correct? Just want to make sure I'm interpreting it right.

I would think you are fine for your car. You just won't get the charger rebate (up to $500 for charger and up to $500 for installation) unless you had it purchased / installed before yesterday.

Sounds good yeah unfortunately I needed the car registered before I could buy/install the charger. Glad I just made it . White touring yay.

Sad to hear this Ontario. Canada EV sales are about to take a hit in the name of $1 beer and 'cheaper' gas.

This is what happens when a province votes in an incompetent buffoon.
Drug Fraud is dragging the province back to the stone age. :(

I’m in the same boat as you. Unfortunately we don’t get any money back for charger or the install.

Notice the wording of the cancellation:
    • Inventory that dealers have on lots or orders made by dealerships with manufacturers on or before July 11, will also be honoured for the incentive provided that the vehicle is delivered to consumers, registered, and plated by September 10.
This protects the dealers and lets them sell any car that arrives before Sept 10 ordered for a customer or for lot inventory, but specifically excludes Tesla model 3 from getting any more rebates as they don't have dealers only manufacturer stores.

May be related to the rebate system being flooded with nearly 2k M3 cars in June.

  22. Just a reminder, please don't get too political in this thread. Sure, there's room to talk about the decision and our judgment of it, but please refrain from broadly attacking any political party or its members. Our members are of all different political stripes united by our automotive choices, so let's focus on what unites us rather than what might divide us.

    Thanks!

P.S. You Clarity owners are a pretty awesome group overall and I really appreciate the mature level of discourse in your (large) corner of the Forum.
