Hoping for some advice from you folks.

I’m looking to join the SE family. I have my eye on two cars.

    1) 2022 used with 25000kms. No accidents. Premier+ trim. $29000

    2) 2024 demo with 3500kms. Resolute. $44000.

Other than the cosmetics of the resolute, the only diff is that resolute has the intelligent cruise control/lane keep assist - but I’ve heard these aren’t great and I don’t really use them anyway.

So I should go with the 2022 right? Help me with my impulsive need to throw away $15k just because it’s “new” lol!

You will have to pull the entire build sheet for 2022/2023 models because they can be multiple chip shortage components. In the case of the 2022 one you listed, the KAFAS based cruise control has been deleted. Also, there is no lane keep assist, but a lane departure warning. Most people disable it because it is very annoying!

The Resolute is just a special edition Premier+ trim with extra rare Electric Collection wheels and yellow checkered cloth seats. If you can get the $7,000 Roulez vert plus $5,000 Canada iZEV, then the demo resolute is only $32,000. The 2022 Premier+ could qualify for the $3,500 Roulez vert rebate and that will bring it down to $25,500.

Thanks. Yes I did mention the premier+ lacks those features but that’s not a big deal for me.

I’m not in Quebec and the rebates wouldn’t apply to the premier+ as it is used. The $ I quoted for the resolute is after rebates.

Okay well I checked the demo Resolute 2V03466, and I am unable to determine if there is a heated steering. Interesting that it's lounge leather and not the checkered yellow cloth seats. I can't find the used one, unless it's at a different dealership. Aside from heating steering wheel, you should check for HK audio and parking sensors for chip shortage delete.

It will come down to your use case for the SE, I think it's worthwhile exploring the used one because auto theft is prevalent in your region. Ghana and other West Africa nations don't use J1772 or CCS1 for charging so that's a bonus!

If I know 2 years later I get SE for $15000 I never will buy mine for $30000 and today a base is $35000 As long a114 miles range fit your needs I will buy used one but my advice could be no good for CANADA IM in New York and is many SE used ones for sale in very low milages . Thank you!!

The heated steering wheel comes standard in the resolute. It does have the active cruise control that previous years missed out on. I really didn’t like the checkered yellow so that’s a good thing! lol

The 2022 used one is at a diff dealership in Quebec - I can dm you the link. It has the HK. It also has the parking assistant. It doesn’t have the intelligent cruise control or the lane keep assist. Do you know if there are other chip shortages I should look for?

I’m considering the used more. It’s already taken on some depreciation and has almost all the same features as the resolute (minus ACC/LKAS). Not sure I can justify $12k for those features.

I think the Resolute will be hit harder by depreciation once the J01 gets released as well.

The 2022 used one you sent me has HK audio delete for chip shortage, but there is heated steering. Even I had to retrofit Bavsound to my 2022 Electric Collection, but it was worth the discounts.

    Oh :(

How bad was the stock sound system?

Mind if I ask what the retrofit cost?

Also, that’s so odd because in their description they specify the HK sound system. I guess I should ask for a bigger discount lol

If that 2022 SE has the heated steering wheel, it sounds perfect. In my Honda Clarity I have intelligent cruise control and lane-keep assist and am very happy not to have those features in my 2021 SE.

When I'm not paying close attention, sometimes my Clarity's cruise control gets locked onto a car driven by someone on their cell phone who keeps going slower and slower, making me slap my forehead when I realize I'm going way below the speed limit. My Clarity's lane-keep assist sometimes vibrates the steering wheel when it mistakenly identifies lane-boundary lines. Also, I like that my MINI Cooper SE doesn't activate the penalty vibrator when I purposely cross a lane-boundary line to avoid a pothole or debris in the lane.

If you can find a 2021 front clip to replace the 2022's "reduced-EV" grille, you would have the ideal SE--just like mine, but with the bonus of having a heated steering wheel (well, to be just like mine, you'd have to get a scoopless hood, too). :)

You can just look at the A pillars and it's missing the HK pill shaped tweeters. Base audio is rather poor, but it will come down to your genre of music.

Current pricing for Bavsound Ghost v3 subs + 4 two-way speakers would be about $1,600CAD before labor, so let's say $2,000? I retrofitted my speakers DIY.

The 2022 does have the heated steering wheel! And I have the same feelings about ACC/LKAS - I have them on my current car and just never use them.

However it has been brought to my attention the 2022 doesn’t have the HK sound system…so now gonna have to think on it :(

Hmmm ok. Thanks for the info. I’ll talk to the sales guy and see if he will come down on price because of that. If not I’ll keep an eye out for another used one.

I've never heard the non-HK sound system, but the HK is much better than the stock system in my Clarity. Still, even though it's the best I've ever owned, there are some on this forum who don't think the HK system is the end-all, be-all, and go to great lengths to improve it.

Fair. I test drove a 2024 with the HK sound system…it wasn’t great but it was fine. But if that’s the upgraded system, I have very little faith in the non-HK system lol

Talk to @MrSnrub about taking over his lease (Premier with HK...ends in 2026). I think he got his from the dealership where the same used 2022 is from.

That SE for $14899 seems to be an anomaly. I'm pretty sure that and an Iconic are at the same dealership in NJ, both for under $15k and then everything else on CarGurus (about 7-10 days ago), when we were discussing depreciation, started at $19,900 and up.

I realize the Canadian market is quite different, but I nearly fainted at my dealership when a 600 mile demo just like mine was supposedly for sale at $US24k. I never saw it listed on their website so don't know if the sales guy was BS'ing me. Even with the large lease incentives that seemed ridiculously discounted for a demo.

    cheers

Yeah, even if he's not parting ways with his, he will know which used ones are worth the 2 hour drive.
