From the other threads, its well documented that the walk away auto lock feature doesn't always work, especially if you exit the car and walk towards the trunk to get something. 90% of the time, I get the multiple beeps warning and when you get that, you have to manually lock the car.

Another issue is the auto unlock function. Coming from a 2007 Lexus es350, the auto unlock feature always worked. When I reach for the passenger door handle, it would unlock the car. But in the Clarity, it doesn't always work. I would first have to reach for the driver's handle to unlock all the doors, then I open the passenger door to put my kids in. Am I missing something? Is there a setting I can change? Thanks!

I turned it off because I never could get auto unlock to work - i had to touch the handle regardless.

I can't comment on the auto lock, but for door unlock, there is a customization setting in Vehicle->Keyless Access Setup->Door Unlock Mode and select "All Doors"

My other honda's auto unlock works the same way. You need to touch the handle.

The auto unlock is only on contact of the front doors. I believe like your Lexus the BMW I had before had this feature present for all doors too. Not so on the Honda along with some other nice features even found on my almost 20 year old Lexus. Oh well. I'll gladly put up with it for not stopping at gas stations. :)

When shuffling the little ones into the back seat, I just grab the front door handle as I walk by. Not a huge deal. More annoying is indeed the failure of the autolock when getting items out of the trunk during departure.

That is how auto unlock works. You touch the handle and the doors unlock. The Prius works the same way.

Even if I set the "unlock all doors" option, when I touch the door handle, only the drivers door opens. Is there a way to have that open all the doors? I know with my old leaf, it was a second tap on the door.

That's how the "unlock all doors" works for me, I touch the driver's door handle and it opens all of them.
Can you double checking that you have this mode set?

Strange. I even turned it off and back on. I will try again and maybe contact the dealer if it it still does not work.

Several reviewers, including David Pogue, reported it could be set to unlock "as you approached the door" without need to touch the handle.

Unfortunately, I don't think they are correct. That would be nice, though.

Note that there are two methods that have configs for unlocking all doors vs just the driver door. There is a config for the remote unlock feature. This is separate from the "touch unlock" feature. They are set independently so double check that you have found the correct method. If you are having trouble report back and I'll dig into my settings because that was something I remember being surprised about .

I think that's the issue, you have to touch the front door handles to unlock it first before you can open the rear doors. But why not have a feature to open up the door you are grabbing? That just make too much sense to me..

That requires sensors in all doors, which Honda and Toyota generally don't have.

Works for me fine... I have the setting set to unlock all doors and it does....

I’ll add that you have to touch the black inner plastic part of the handle. Touching the white part will not activate the door unlocking.
Once I discovered this then only a single finger light touch will do it for driver’s only or all 4 (depending on setting). Works every time.

BTW, the only time I’ve heard the “dreaded 4 beeps/no lock for you” is when I bent and leaned over to get something out of the back of the trunk.
