Speed limit up here is 100 km/h (62 mph) but traffic tends to flow at around 115. If I'm trying to maximize range and I need to use the freeway, I try to stick to the right lane at truck governor speed (105/65). 130+ miles in mild weather is entirely doable at 105 km/h, regardless of mode (steady speed minimizes any benefit of using Green).
Yes, a huge effect. I went from 133mi average range on the OEM tires down to 112mi average on high performance all seasons. Sport, mid, and green are all just as efficient if you have good throttle control. Mid/Green just help you coast easier.
I'm seeing about a 15% hit all things being equal, or as close to equal as I can get, going from the OE 16 inch summer to an AS 16 inch setup. This was after much digging into tests and reviews for this specific AS set, all praising good rolling resistance..... yet still a far cry from the OE design. Edit: The difference was noted with warmer weather, at and above 60F. Temperatures below 50F have narrowed the gap, but this is most likely due to compound characteristics between summer and AS tires at those lower temperatures. Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk
And yes the old adage speed kills especially applies to EVs as speed is a square in the coefficient of drag calculation. Speed has a huge impact on range. Not just with the SE but all EVs. Teslas seems to be the most efficient but even my friend has a Model Y and the change from 100kph to 110kph is pretty massive but they have a massive battery to fall back on. Even for myself I try to stay around 100-105. Then you have things such as a massive headwind, etc 150miles out of an SE I find hard to believe MAYBE in a city with perfect driving but on a highway? Are you doing 45 mph?
Did you get more range at those speeds before you switched from the OEM tires to the Continentals? For the SE, MINI carefully selected summer performance tires that delivered the best range.
Drafting semis at 105? I could get better than 2.4 l/100km (100 mpg US) in the smart if I drafted semis!
Likely both of those. Apparently above 70 mph the car's drag really is noticeable, and if your tires don't have a low rolling resistance that will definitely impact range.
I can’t get to my stored summer wheels (I store several sets for several cars, so they are well protected under my back deck), but I’m watching the thaw and hoping it’s days, not weeks, before I can drag them out. With true summer tires, I usually wait until the daytime temperatures are regularly in the upper-40s before making the switch. I can’t wait for the nimbler handling and the extra range.
If you want good range and good grip/handling summer tyres, you probably won't find anything better than OEM hankooks. Very few other tyres are as low rolling resistance, and I don't think any of those stick as well. I now have 3 sets: Stock 16" wheels with OEM hankooks for summer 16" 'winter' wheels with nokian wr-g4. Above maybe 40-45F, not as sticky as the hankooks. But so much better when it drops below freezing. Rolling resistance is a little higher than the hankooks. These are a decent all year commuter tyre if temps don't often go over maybe 80F. 215/45-16 Falken RT660. These are my autocross tyres. Day-um! These are super sticky if it is remotely warm. Rolling resistance is horrific. My range was 94 miles when I drove on them to an event 60 miles away. First time I've ever seen the GOM be too optimistic...
Me too. We had a snow storm a few weeks ago and got dumped more than a foot overnight. I took my SE out with nokian Hakka R5 and these tires were absolutely phenomenal. I never once lost traction driving on the highway, unplowed Backcountry Twisties and steep hill. Frankly I felt more confident driving my se with the nokian than my AWD land Rover defender with center and rear differential and all terrain tires.

My SE in winter rally mode! I've had Bridgestone blizzark, Dunlop wintersport, Continental "forgot the name" and General arctic altimax, none of them came close to the Nokian hakkapaeliita R5 in my application on the east coast, not to mention its low rolling resistance which showed literally no loss of range.
