  1. Around Christmas of last year, a picture of a new Tesla Supercharger site close to the Gulf of Mexico coast showed up in my local electric vehicle Facebook group. The pedestals were sheathed in white plastic and looked taller than the normal Supercharger.

Then, a few days ago, I had my first mobile service visit at my house to replace a rear wiring harness under recall. Speaking with the tech, I was pretty sure he called it a V4 installation. So finally, yesterday I drove south to go check it out and made the video below.

My recent trips to Arlington National Cemetery and later, the West, exposed me to a variety Tesla DC chargers:
    • 75 kW - found in shopping centers, right size for shoppers or dinner
    • 120 kW - unconverted, classic SuperChargers
    • 150 kW - upgraded classic SuperChargers
    • 250 kW - SuperChargers
    • charging spots
      • backup to curb with SuperChargers close to curb
      • backup to displaced wheel stops with SuperChargers close to curb (cable too short)
      • backup to parallel SuperChargers to side of car (nicer)
      • pull-in or through backup parallel SuperChargers (VERY NICE!!)
    • Every SuperCharger worked although some V1 units only had 65 kW instead of the expected 150 kW. Changing spots did not increase the rate.
    • EVgo, one example, claimed 50 kW but flatlined at 20 kW (UGH! $$$)
Worst, the offset wheel stops that in one case, I had to angle park to plug in. The best, in a parking lot that shared a Texas BBQ restaurant!

Plz put in a PlugShare entry. When it is working, I’ll visit too.

    Or share the address here?

  5. Ah, good idea! It's a great charging location for people driving along the coast (which I recommend, because the road is pretty awesome from here to Appalachicola, at least).

This is timely. I got a "Tourism & Travel Show" letter for an hour web sales pitch. It has a gift for a short cruise from a Florida port. I also want to hang around to see a SpaceX launch (bucket list.) <GRINS>

None of these happen 'instantly' so I'll let you know my schedule.

  8. I think I got this pitch as well. I've got zero interest in taking a cruise so obviously I won't see you there, but I hope you enjoy yourself when you go.
