For context Walmart only has about 6000 trucks. So its becoming very very clear that Musk has likely covered the so called losses of last quarter.

Also clear is that people shouls be dropping the Nikola motors deposits. Can run a Tesla semi 900 miles with a 30 min pitstop.
Of course only thing less economically efficient than petrol is hydrogen. Hydrogen being beyond stupid and actually more polluting than petrol with much, much worse economics.

  3. We covered that story too. Since this whole thing hangs on a reservation number that may or may not be indicative of the number of reservations made, it's a bit early to draw any conclusions. Better, in my opinion, to stick with the number of publicly announced reservations: at least 190 so far.

It would be nice if Mr Musk would be as transparent with reservation figures for vehicles as he is with Boring hat sales.

Tesla has about 1300 acknowledged orders so far on a 940000 unit per year market
940k number from this article https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-12-13/this-electric-truck-will-probably-beat-tesla-s-to-market

Saw another estimate that showed US with 35 million large trucks and 4 million class 8 suggesting a 25% per year turn over suggesting they aren't making 400k miles before turn over.

But at this rate could have 20% of market by year end and 40% by launch. Remember it was giving truck execs rides in its prototype at its unveiling. Remember that its designer's other truck the Cascadia has 40% now.

Of course that would mean enough megachargers to charge 376000 Tesla Semis probably by the end of 2020. Fits with Tony Seba's schedule. Remember this is about outright eliminating petrol fuel and energy, not about allowing it to continue to rob public treasuries and claim fictional profits.

It would be another 70 billion in revenue for Tesla. But I think Tesla could go further and capture double that before ICE firns get a clue.
