I do, and I'm pondering it. I have the ODBII connector but haven't jumped into Bimmercode yet.

I stopped holding my breath and ordered a Bimmercode-compatible OBDII dongle.

Good for you :) Hope you find it!

Honestly, unless you do something incredibly stupid you will not brick the MINI. Just take your time and write down all the steps you need to do, and go slowly, double checking of course.

Most of the settings are safe but stay away from the air conditioning stuff because the SE has a heat pump.

Most of the annoyances (i.e. iDrive disclaimer) can be resolved with Bimmercode. Some people like to adjust the heated seat presets as well.

Even if your MW tuner remains (unfortunately) aloof, you’ll find plenty of other settings to tweak that I’m certain will make the app a worthwhile investment. I spent two hours in the car my first full day with it, trying out all the scripted tweaks. I didn’t play with “expert” (unscripted) settings until I activated the rear fog lamps a few weeks later.

Oh yeah, I have to get Bimmercode for the rear fog lights once I get the courage to attempt pulling off the dash cover.

Lol! I haven’t listened to radio since getting a grey-market XM tuner the day it launched in Houston a week after 9/11, but, to each their own.

I noticed the Bimmercode website doesn't list the head unit as one of the things it can modify. Why wouldn't they list everything it can do?

I'm gambling on this Bimmercode thing for one reason only: to acquire one-button access to the local University of Michigan sports-talk radio station. After last weekend, it's the most fun listening ever.

However, after saying I don't want to bother with streaming services to acquire AM radio programming, I'm tempted to do all the Tune-In tricks to listen to a The Ohio State University sports-talk radio station this week.

If being a person who wants all the electronics built into his car be functional classifies me as living in the past, then I'm guilty as charged.

I flicked through a few AM stations the other evening on the way home. I ended up on 880. That's a NY station, I'm in NC. I'd say that the SE doesn't suffer too badly from EV interference...

Thanks! It's great to know I'm not the only forum member living in the past.

I mean, he can ask all he wants, but because an analog radio is a passive device, this is not a safety issue. It’s not like when there’s a tornado warning a car automatically turns on AM radio. That’s just not the way it works, and government can’t mandate entertainment options. If North America had chosen DAB instead of Ibiquity’s in-band, adjacent-channel HD Radio, we might be having a different conversation.

I bought my VeePeak OBDII dongle, but when I tried to buy the $45 Android version of Bimmercode, my PayPal password was denied. I then tried my PayPal password on my computer and it worked. Back to Bimmercode and nope. Tried again, nope and then it locked me out from trying again. Back to my computer and my password still worked fine there.

I wonder if Senator Markey can help me in my continuing quest to achieve access to AM radio, which this old man has had in every car he's ever owned? Ed Markey: "Just give me your PayPal password and I'll see what I can do."
