As I was going through my MINI delay, the dealer was tracking my vehicle as well. It was interesting to hear his perspective. While the upper level data on my car stated, "Quality Control" for one week, the dealer had access to a system that said it was out of QC and awaiting carrier assignment. So, he could see it a change in status before it updated for me on MyGarage. My Countryman SE (Bern, Nederlands) went into "Production Begins" on 30 September. Finally (!) on 14 October, the status changed to "Exterior Assembly Begins". I wonder if they froze the production line due to transportation back-up or were awaiting parts. It was an awful two weeks for me, but it did end. The Hub was exhausted from my checking the site.

Car is finally In Transit! Guessing several of us are aboard the Cassiopeia Leader (or maybe Tannhauser), so should arrive at Hueneme around the 18th.

And we're off. Car's in the production queue with the VIN assigned. (Those folks who placed orders in Aug that are waiting for a Production number and a VIN might want to contact their sales guy.)

I've been wondering a little about why MINI is scheduling American orders ahead of EU/UK orders. My dealer originally said this car would be delivered in either February or March. Initially I was thinking it was because of the dollar/pound rate. But what if it is because MINI fears that the US will default on its debts because neither the D's nor the R's will compromise on Medicare/Social Security...

Lastly, I have a request. To the first posting in this FAQ, please add:
    9) Acronyms
and include things like MOT, SA, MA, and GOM. I'll bet there are some other acronyms that I don't know.

Looks like the Cassiopea Leader's at the Panama Canal and about to enter the Pacific. Pretty interesting to see the process! hd-miraflores.jpg

Six days from entering the production queue to exterior assembly starting. That was fast! I was expecting another week in the queue...

(Given that this is the last model year, for now, that the SE is being built in the UK, I kind of wish that the Oxford plant could include in the car a postcard signed by all of the factory workers who had a hand in building the car...)

That's a great idea! What about the robots? I bet some of them would like the chance to sign your card, too.

Given the meticulousness with which the robots perform their work, I'm certain that they could be taught how to scrawl something.

And unlike me, their signature would be the same every time. (I haven't updated my signature at the voter registration site in over a decade. If voting verification gets down to comparing signatures, mine probably wouldn't match.)

  19. My Mini is still sitting at the Port for 4 weeks now. It doesn't look like there is much activity in the Spreadsheet, so maybe demand has dropped and they are scheduling fewer ships. I'm starting to doubt that my car will come before the end of the year. Anyone else in the same situation?

Your Mini Cooper SE has been at the Port of Southampton for 4 weeks ? I know it's a painful wait and I feel for you. Earlier this year, a different car I ordered was at the Port of Benicia in Northern CA for 2 months and there was a 4 alarm fire at the port while my car was there. Fingers crossed that you will see some movement any time now - Good Luck !!

  21. 6/24/22 Ordered
    8/2/22 Received production number
    8/10/22 Scheduled for Production
10/7/22 Production begins -- 8.5 weeks after it was scheduled :(
    10/24/22 At the port
    11/21/22 Still at the port.............

I sure hope the salty sea doesn't dissolve the car before it makes it on the ship. I can visualize my car rusting away in a lonely parking lot...

I wonder what the cause of the delay is ? I know there was a delay for Taycans because there was a dock workers strike at the Port of Emden. Out of curiosity, would you share what trim you ordered ?

  23. BRG Signature Plus 2.0
    Cloth/Leatherette Black Pearl Light Chequered
    Multi-Tone white roof
    Roulette Wheels
    White bonnet stripes
    Roof rack
    Anthracite headliner
    Interior surface aluminum

The only thing I could think of is that the multi-tone white roof might have created some problems with the scheduling. It just seems so random how cars are built and shipped. There are several examples on the spreadsheet of cars that were ordered in August and have already been delivered. I have also read about someone on these forums who ordered his car in February and still hasn't received it. Yikes.
