I wouldn't have purchased if it had been a hatchback. To each his/her own, to be sure.

Of course we're bias as we're Clarity owners but I love how it looks personally. I'll take Clarity styling over Prius Prime styling any day (no offense to Prius Prime owners).

I really wish it was a liftback/sportback like an Audi A5 or Kia Stinger!

A week ago pulling out of my parking garage the attendant shouted to me across two lanes, "Hey man, nice ride, nice ride."

I have no problem offending them… they could've had a better car.

Last evening at a Mexican restaurant the owner (I think) came over to our table and complimented us on our nice looking Honda. He asked all about its operation and how we liked it. A bit later, he went out and walked all around it, looking it over carefully. I think it's a really good looking car (wouldn't buy one that wasn't!) and far better than some of the "competitor" hybrids/EVs that try too hard to be avant-garde in looks. I'm sure my age is showing that respect, but chacan a son gout.

The other day my 3 year old daughter saw a Prius and said, Daddy, just like your new car!

I was highly disappointed and think she needs a vision test

I have to admit there are better looking cars out there but as far as being different and not seeing 10 in the parking lot is something I think is very cool.

I agree. There are so few Claritys out there (in Canada) that it makes people's heads turn. It feels like I am part of some prestigious club. I've only seen one other Clarity in my area of Ottawa and two in Montreal.

Or maybe she’s a budding engineer in the making and knew they are both EVs!

Well to offer some insight into my opinion now: I honestly initially only bought a PHEV for it's economy, and as I was reviewing the options out there I hated the way they all looked. The clarity was hideous to me at first sight. Then as I started to focus my sights on this car, basically ruling out the other options, then testing driving it; I began to think to myself that I could live with its looks.
Now, after 6 days of ownership I honestly like the car, I think the car has a unique styling that should stick with the car and not be abandoned. (I am actually starting to like the side-skirt.)

I find the side skirt useful to try to find other clarity’s on the road

Don't worry - even as an owner of four previous Prius' - the Prime was beat to death with the ugly stick...like @bfd no problem here offending them.

Another observation - the car, in person, looks a whole lot better than the sales brochure pictures - and I've had other non-Clarity owners say the same thing ("Looks better than on TV.")

I've liked the Clarity from the beginning. I never liked the looks of the two Prius cars we've owned, and Toyota was going in a different direction than we were with the design of the IV model.

I've tried to look at the car through others' eyes to see what they might think is ugly. Many think the rear end is ugly and I just can't see it. I wonder if they think it is too tall but if you want more trunk space it has to come from somewhere. I particularly like the rear. If anything I could see how people might think the front is ugly; I like that view less than any other of the car. The skirt on the rear wheel is neutral to me.

I have to say though that I don't buy a car for how it looks like on the outside (hence our purchase of two Prius cars!). To me the inside is most important. I only look at the outside briefly as I enter and exit, and I'm not about impressing the neighbors. After Prius with the dash centered gauges that were hard to read, the Clarity dash is great. I love the luxurious feel of the interior, the comfortable seats, and the roominess of the car.

I agree with @jdonalds, particularly the luxurious interior - my only regret (and it really doesn't even qualify as "regret") is that it had a hatch with full fold down seats - that would really be handy - it was AMAZING what i could stuff in my 2011 Prius.

PS - that move to center mounted gauges on the Prius is an abomination.

I agree, Carrie con enchufe. (Had to look your name up; well played sir, well played). Several times I’ve thought I had seen another Clarity, but the lack of wheel pants proved me wrong. I’m ok with the exterior. Has anyone noticed that it is very similar to the new Civics? Overall the Clarity seems to blend in quite well into the Honda family and I get nothing but compliments from others out in public.

I parked next to one on a road trip 200 miles from home. Haven’t seen one since.
