Jaguar Confirmed our order this morning and gave us the important dates to follow...

    Last Amendment Possible 7-6-18
    Build Date 8-3-18
    Delivery Date 10-19-18
    Handover Date 10-24-18

Pretty amazing dealing with a company that has has their stuff together, and actually runs on a schedule. No shooting from the hip with Jaguar!

    First off, congratulations:
Let us know when you get the car how well they met this schedule. <grins>

Where is the car built? I understand a UK shop designed it but with all the tariff nonsense going on, where a car is built helps identify the likely costs.

I think they will hit the dates exactly... Prices are already set, Car is built by Magna in Graz, Austria in the same factory with the BMW 5 Series, and Mercedes G class.

2 of the Jaguar dealers in the Chandler and Scottsdale area are now taking orders for the I-Pace. The Chandler dealer already has DC Fast Chargers in and working ready for the I=Pace. The Scottsdale location has them in progress. I rent out my Tesla model 3 and want to order an I-Pace but they don't have the non leather interior option yet. I think it would rent out well on Turo but many don't want leather like me so I have to wait.
At least Jaguar is getting ready with the DC Fast Chargers. It works great on my Chevy Spark EV with the CCS port when I tried them out.

Wow, people actually order cars with faux leather? I did not think anyone actually ordered that option. The faux leather Tesla uses in Model X seats has such a plastic (mixed with cardboard) feel to them. I guess there are some, one of my wife's girlfriends was razzing her about wearing leather leggings, then my wife reminded her that her Porsche was full of leather, and her Hemes handbag was also leather, after that the conversation quickly changed to something else...

I would probably get this if getting an EV, but overall cost "per mile" is a bit high, still top among the choices out there to me in regards to size and features. Wish they didn't mix the climate control with dials and "touch" interface so close together. Dials are the way to go.

I wonder what the long term condition is for either the leather or faux material. The leather in one if my cars has cracking on the left bolster where it always gets compressed when getting in and out, it was like that in a few years.

Yes, the I-Pace is a luxury vehicle, and in class is the cheapest in almost any metric. No UI is perfect, and I will wit to see if I like the I-Pace solution long term or not. Playing with it at the auto show it all feels of high quality, but it was in show mode, so I could not play with it into the menus.

On the leather, I like the softer touch and feel of real leather, My buddies model X is so hard, and has almost a cardboard feel to it. I usually do not drive a car long enough to wear out the seat, but if I did, I would have the cover replaced, and keep the nice feel, actually in the aftermarket you can usually buy even better quality leather.

I played with the configurator on the Jag web page. The base starts out relatively reasonable but the amount of option variables is almost brain numbing. By the time I got done with my fantasy build it was way beyond my comfort level.

Haha! I-Pace is not cheap that is for sure. I just chose the First Edition, that comes with almost everything for 87K

This is typical of high end vehicles. If you add the things you want it's at least 10k+ more. The benefit is you can choose what you want. When I try to configure a Lexus or BMW, etc is the same. I'm sure they make good money on those options and packages.

Totally, car companies know the options buyers will want, and usually intentionally leave those options off the base model vehicles. Option upgrades are 75%+ margin, so automakers want you to check the boxes as often as possible, and on luxury cars it is more so. Jaguar did 3 pre packages for I-Pace, but also allows you to truly custom build your car if that is what you want. They must be well organized in Graz to handle so many different build possibilities.

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of different grades of leather these days, so companies can tell you that you have "leather." I've been in some new vehicles and they don't have any smell, although that's mostly chemicals, but mine smells heavily of that leather smell.

I think most of the smell in newer cars is not the components, but added... There has been a lot of talk about this in the industry for over a decade...

Wow, That adds to the price, but still quite a bit cheaper then a Model X 100D with similar option package, I will still buy I-Pace even with the tarriff,

Speculation, I wonder if a tariff could be treated as a pre-paid tax? If so, it may be possible to get an exemption for having already paid the tariff tax.

  21. Have you received an update from Jaguar about the delivery date?
Is October 24 still the delivery date? or are there any delays?
    Thanks

  22. Not sure if David is around. I understand he's taking a break from the online communities he was involved in.

Haven't heard of any deliveries this year, but I'll double-check around and see if I can find any.

  23. Ok, I can't speak to David's delivery, but I saw a couple buyers saying they would get delivery near the end of October.
