I'm also in Canada, and paid $150 for the inspection/recharge. Honda Canada wouldn't give me a refund, but they put a $250 credit on my account that I can use at any Honda dealership in Canada. I take mine in for the warranted replacement condenser next week.

I just got my official Honda America letter stating the extended AC coverage.

Was it a “Product Advisory” letter?

    It was a warranty extension.

I have something coming in the mail on the outside of the envelope says product advisory but I don’t know what’s in it yet because it hasn’t arrived

Mine arrived today, too - southern Mississippi... So far, no issues - but every other Honda I've owned has had TERRIBLE AC issues, and our hot and humid climate requires AC use for about 11 months out of the year!

Thank you! It did finally show up yesterday and that is what it was. Hopefully our cars end up getting decent aftermarket support. I am on the keep it/sell it fence as I don’t have the extended warranty.

Follow-up: left the car at the dealer for the day, drove home in 30c weather so great opportunity to test the air con, and it passed with flying colours. The best part was they were expecting me, so I just handed the key to the guy who unlocked the door after he greeted me by name, and when I picked it up they just handed me the report and my keys. Total time in the office - less than 2 minutes.

I'm in Connecticut. My a/c started to blow not so cold air. Made an appointment, waited a week, barely enduring the hot summer heat then they called me to cancel the appointment for tomorrow. They believe it's the condenser and they can't get hold of it for god knows how long. They will have to wait until they hear back but meanwhile, I have to drive without an a/c. They will try to charge it for $500 but no guarantee that it'll fix the problem. Is this the case for everyone else? It's freaking 95 degrees outside. They refused to give me a loaner and they mentioned that there are 30 clarities waiting on this condenser.

Take a look at this post:
    https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/poll-clarity-air-conditioning-output-not-cool.10897/#post-130795

It claims that there is an aftermarket condenser (which still indicates that it is available). I don't know about the availability of an OEM part, but it is not surprising that it is unavailable given the circumstances.

We have not yet heard of anybody actually using this aftermarket part, and I doubt your dealer would consider it to be a valid option, but it would be interesting to get a reaction from them.

I plan to buy the screen, is it hard to install? Do you need to take off the license plate bracket? I am not very handy

It's pretty easy, it's shaped to fit, so you just need to secure it with the supplied tie wraps. No need to touch the front plate.

Very easy to install... No need to remove the license plate holder or anything else.
It comes with (4) Zip-Ties. You simply put it in position (it naturally fits in the opening quite well), and use the zip-ties to hold it in place.

The hardest part is feeding the zip-ties in and out (around the wide plastic grill that you are attaching it to) so you can zip them.
It helps to pre-bend the zip ties with kind of a "U" at the end so they want to go around the corner and come back out again.

You can't get your hand behind it, hence the need to cleverly fish the zip ties so you can grab the ends.

    I
have a 2018 Clarity 40,200 mikes and just received called from Hoehn Honda it is both my condensor(covered with Honda) and my evaporator- they want estimated 2k to fix. I said no. Will take it to my trusted family mechanic for confirmation. Very annoyed they know both are an issue and aren’t taking steps to fix. I don’t think I will ever buy a Honda again

I have a 2018 as well with about 70,000 miles. Brought it to the dealer about 3 weeks ago as I had hit air coming out during AC usage and they replaced everything for free.... cold AC now. Everything involved with getting your AC running again should be covered.

@Nemesis not if they claim it is due to damage from road debris etc

The AC stopped working two years ago. I just brought it in to dealer. They said the wiring to the AC was destroyed by rodents. They repaired and insulated the wiring. $800

Sorry you have to go through this.

I don't recall anybody reporting a bad evaporator in this forum. Condensers - absolutely.
I agree with your skepticism, and it just seems unlikely that both the condenser and the evaporator would be bad.

Is there another Honda dealer within a reasonable distance that you could try?
Of course, I'm sure all Honda dealers will now see the diagnosis you were given in their computer and that would certainly taint their thinking.

Did they provide any "evidence" to prove that the evaporator is bad?
