Has anyone been able to replicate the launch mode available in other EVs? Instead of just slamming on the go pedal?
Although Kona EV has no "launch mode" such as Tesla, there is more than enough torque to spin the front wheels. The closest we have is sport mode which applies up to 395 Nm in both battery pack options. Other than the satisfying thrill of heavy acceleration, it is probably not a wise idea to use this very often given the limitations of the drivetrain particularly the gearbox which has shown to be vulnerable to premature wearing with heavy torque applications.
You could try the following:- 1 Left foot on footbrake 2 Engage drive 3 Right foot full down on GO pedal 4 Release the footbrake Disclaimer At your own risk, and pay head to @electriceddy 's sage advice on the drive train John
