How much does it cost and the duration?

That's not bad. I might be the first one to own the Clarity electric and the PHEV.

I really, really want to get in on that EV deal. I am holding my breath waiting for them to extend it to WA state where I'll be living in a few weeks. I need another car for the kids to use and for around town and that would be perfect! I also LOVE the blue color.

Electric version has zero maintenance schedule.

If I lived in Washington, I would setup a mailbox in Oregon and lease it.

What about HV battery and inverter coolant loops? Won’t those be a 5 yr fluid change? And tire rotation? I won’t mention brakes, ‘cause regen makes them practically life of car.
Does it have any kind of Maitenance Minder?
Even so, you are right that’s is very cheap to keep.

No scheduled coolant change for the TMS? No brake fluid test/flush? Seems too good to be true.

I think they'd catch me on the garaging address thing. I think they're used to people trying to pull that type of thing due to the no-sales-tax in OR thing. I'll still look into it though ;-)

Edmonds Woodway HS. Washington was so rural back in the 90s.

Even with the region making the pads last forever, the brake fluid will pick up water over time. It should be checked every couple of years. You just use a little test strip that measures the quality of the fluid. Nissan requires a yearly brake fluid test on the LEAF. That was a bit excessive, but they were paying for it so I never argued.

Thanks AlanSb, I forgot the brake fluid. I think Honda standard is 3 yr max. Manual says by Maintenance Minder or in 3 years which ever comes first.

I tried negotiating free service and the salesperson looked at me and said no maintenance needed. Boy was I bummed.

We were looking up in that area before we found great jobs down in Tacoma. I'm just excited to be back near the water again.

We just had the maintenance reminder go on at about 6500 miles, yet my wife saw nothing in the manual about scheduled oil changes. I’m assuming that’s what the upcoming maintenance refers to.

The section starts on page 475 of the Owners Manual (not the Owners Guide). If you search the forum for the term "A01 service" you can find the threads discussing the service.

^ Yup. I actually googled up the Clarity service schedule and found it. But it's odd that there still isn't a mileage associated with a service. Granted the use of the ICE varies from car to car and the usage of an individual owner, but I would think there would be some minimal guidance on mileage and oil changes.

We can only hope that the MM is not calculating oil changes like the HV range algorithm.
It should be like other Hondas where it takes into account engine temps, running time, and number of starts, among other parameters.
The manual does state to change the oil at 1 year, if the MM does not indicate an oil change, so maybe it will use HV miles and not total miles which would seriously underestimate the oil life. Time will tell.
My MM is indicating first service at 12 months but frustratingly doesn’t indicate what the code is.

It will be nice to see another Clarity in T town. I live in the Proctor District and after a month of owning the clarity, I haven't seen another one yet.

Regarding sales tax in WA, there is not sales tax on the clarity since it has a big enough battery to be considered an EV. Unfortunately, this tax exemption ends this month. I think you have to take possession of the vehicle by the end of May, so that probably won't work for you.

I agree with you about leasing/licensing a vehicle in Oregon to avoid sales tax. I doubt it's feasible or many would do it.
