"Gassed up for the first time in a month for my first big Clarity road trip (800 miles round trip) for daughter's graduation. It looks like I won't need to gas up again until I get back with my 950+ miles current range." 950+ mile range? Ok, I'm confused. Doesn't Honda's TV ad boast 340 miles combined mileage? Every time I see that Honda TV ad I think about the Prius Prime's 640 combined mileage.
I think he meant that as a joke. There are numerous posts here about the incredibly ridiculous and meaningless HV range that the Clarity reports.
Yes, a joke. The very very inaccurate HV range is so often bemoaned here that I forgot I might be giving bad info to someone newer to the forum. Sorry.
I almost did that this week by accident. I have run several ICE cars out of gas over my years of driving without worry. However, everything I've heard about hybrids is that running them out of gas is a big deal. I'd honestly give it a try if I wasn't worried about doing damage. I have no problem suffering personally for "science" but I can't hurt my favorite car.
Thanks for this information. I'm going to be driving my Clarity out to Tacoma, WA from Colorado in a few weeks. I was originally supposed to be towing it behind a moving truck and I have to admit I was rather disappointed I wouldn't get to do the road trip with it. Now, circumstances dictate that my stuff will follow me out by a month so no moving truck and I get to drive my car! Can't wait.
