How likely are you to activate Tesla Autopilot?

I saw that, another 1 vehicle accident fatality... Tesla drivers are really having some bad luck recently.

Don't own a Tesla. We use plug-in hybrids.

Well, you can't blame the battery for this. Could be the Autopilot, or the brakes or the driver. Who knows?

They showed an overhead map of the site on the news this morning, it is right after a curve in the road. could the driver have gone to sleep? Or another Autopilot mishap?

I would not be surprised if the dried-out computer could tell us if it was on Autopilot or not, but is anyone going to investigate? I suppose Tesla might, but I suppose they are under no legal obligation to reveal the results if it doesn't suit them.

Yes, of course anytime there is a fatality, there will be some kind of investigation with the local police (murder? Suicide? Accident?), and if it was A/P related the NTSB and NHTSA will also be involved.

I thought I'd read somewhere that these people were not going to investigate, but perhaps I am mistaken. I hope they do, however. It would be interesting to see if the Autopilot was responsible or not.

    From USA today...

CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities in the San Francisco Bay Area are investigating the death of a man after a Tesla car he was driving veered off a road, crashed through a fence and into a pond. It is unknown if the vehicle was in Autopilot mode.

Musk seems to have a sense of humour, or perhaps it was unconscious. Regarding criticism of the Model 3's poor braking, which he accepted was true, he went on to state: "Tesla won’t stop until Model 3 has better braking than any remotely comparable car."

    Made me smile anyway!

Thats the same line about Panel Gaps too... I have to say I followed a brand new model 3 today, still had a window license, and the trunk alignment is much better then earlier cars I have seen. It is true that they are getting better, but better then a new VW.. No way in heck.... VW has tight gaps.
