Issues with location-based charging...

Since the new update, my 2019 Niro has not been abiding by my location-based charging settings.

Previously, when at home, it would prioritize off-peak charging. Now, it just begins charging immediately. Before I elevate this issue to the dealership (and particularly because it's a software issue that I can resolve myself), I'd like to ask if anyone else is experiencing issues and if NOT: 1. are you on the new navigation software, and 2) what are your particular settings for location-based charging?

When I reset my "location", I have attempted selecting my Home from Saved Places, and I have also just tried manually selecting the area my car is parked in on the map. Neither have been fruitful.

The EV page indicates "Not in set location" when parked at home... so that is incorrect.

In my case, I have a small small panel (only 100 amps), so I like to ensure that I never hit near max usage by prioritizing my charges to start at night. I don't want to have to make a trip to the garage at night though, so I like using the location based feature.

When I'm out and about, I want my car to ignore those schedules and just start juicing immediately.

Anyway, it started working again, spontaneously; however, one thing is new, it starts charging for about a minute prior to the Niro realizing it is in the location for scheduled charging. Then it turns off. It's not serious enough for me to consider contacting the dealership so I'll live with it.

 

@8wattCREW, are you saying that your location-based charging is not working after installing the software?

 

And it just stopped functioning altogether again... I think I'll have to reach out to the dealership.

 

Took the vehicle to the dealership today. No luck in resolving, so the dealership will be in contact with Kia.

Did this issue arise after installing the navigation updates? My issue is still outstanding, in the hands of the dealership.

 

So, when you enable Location Based charging, does the car seem to not realize that you are in the "charging location"? Is that your experience?

 

No, you're in the right screen. Mine is still not working. The dealership does not know what the issue is. It has been suggested to me that this "location based charging feature" only works with a level 1 charger, which cannot be true, since I have not used my level 1 charger once since I have had my car, but have used the location-based charging feature for 2 years on my level 2 before it stopped working spontaneously...

 

Kia is replacing my headunit in an attempt to resolve this issue. Been five months now...

 

Unbelievable.
They replaced my headunit and the location-based charging worked. Albeit, the head unit was running factory-firmware/navigation. Straight outta 2019. So first thing I did when I got home was update the headunit.
What happened once I did?
Location-based charging FAILED.

Can someone please show me what settings you all are running to make your location-based charging work? The dealership folks (Service Advisor, Technician) both tried to get it to function correctly but without any success. I am at my wit's end here.

EDIT: To update the headunit, the steps I took are as follows:

1. Remove Kia SD card (32GB) from car
2. Plug Kia SD card into Windows computer
3. Run Kia Navigation Software which finds the SD card, finds the car (I confirm it's the right one), and starts downloading & copying to the SD card.
4. Plug SD back into car.
5. Head to Settings, General, and an update prompt pops up. I click Update.
6. Keep the car turned ON, and let the Update run its course (usually about 30-40 minutes)

Anything out of order here?
