Trying to decide between a RWD Mach E with premium package and standard battery or a Tesla model 3 RWD with the upgraded 19 inch sport wheels.

The deciding difference; For the Mach E, style, interior, Ford dealer services. Con, no access to Tesla supercharger system on road trips. Charging speeds while traveling. Tesla Con, style is slightly behind Mach E in my opinion. Pro, access to Tesla supercharger system. Up to 250 Mghz charge rate vs 150 for the Mustang. Longer bumper to bumper warranty too.

I've driven the model 3 RWD, exceptional vehicle. Very nice factory store, let me take car without salesperson. No pressure, knowledgeable representative. Have not driven the Mustang. Dealers didn't offer test drive, was hit with over MSRP at one dealership. Offered MSRP on order at another. More traditional dealership experience.

Also like the ID4 but concerned with max 125 loading speed on road trips. Only like top of the line Pro S model.

    Big decision

Yes, the Tesla charges faster than both the Mach-e and ID.4. That means you would have to plan your long trips differently depending on which one you decide to get. The Mach-e charges from 20 to 80% in about 35 minutes for my Extended Battery. I'd imagine the Standard Battery is quicker. I don't think the charging infrastructure is as much a concern as it was a year ago and getting better all the time. Do you take a lot of long trips? Most people do not realize how little they drive on a day to day basis.

For me, I liked the layout of the Mach-e wheel controls over the Tesla's minimalist approach, the body design fits my lifestyle as a working photographer and I personally like the looks over the Tesla Model 3 and Y.

I just finished watching Alex on Auto's MME-GT review and he touched on the fact that the Tesla charges faster however it has a slightly smaller battery pack. He said that on a southern California road trip between 2 cities (don't remember which ones) the MME can make the trip with 1 stop where the model Y would need 2 stops. The overall trip would be a little faster in the MME.

The range and charge time are 2 factors that need to be considered together in the overall calculation.

The MME-GT has the Extended Battery pack and is AWD. The models you are looking at has the Standard Battery pack with smaller EPA range numbers. The Mach-e is not as efficient as a Tesla Model 3 or Y. I average 3.7 miles/Kwh for the spring, summer and fall weather months. I'll see how it does once the winter weather come along later this year.

The 150 Kwh charge rate only lasts a few minutes and only if the battery has been depleted to less than 30%. There are a lot of youTube videos about the MME charging curve you might want to check out. Ford is being very carefully with the battery tech out the gate though the 2022 models will have a bit more range and a better curve. Us 2021 owners are hoping for an OTA update to get the 2022 improvements but there is no guarantee.

  6. Now that they are running around in Norway, more info should be cropping up shortly concerning that, regardless, we anticipate your report as well;)

You might take into account Elon Musk's promise to produce an adaptor for non-Tesla's to use at his network. I don't know any specifics, but I think that would be huge.

Well guys, I decided on the Tesla Model 3 RWD in blue with sport wheels. Really was a close decision as my wife and I also love the Mach E. I also liked the ID4, wife didn't.

Our wait will be 6 to 8 months. What a business :) I'd like to think that all types of EV owners will stick together.

Isn't it amazing that we will wait a half year to purchase a electric vehicle. Figured I better get in line now, if new Federal incentives happen the wait could get longer.

It's amazing how buying a car has begun changing. No pressure, just order online. So easy compared to the old days. I remember when a dealer bugged the sales booths so the manager could hear the consumer talking to there spouse. Hide the advertised special car. On and on. Granted, dealers are much better today. Guess I'm showing my age :)

Two different vehicles. Better comparison would be the MY.

Having said that I do not disagree with how the Mustang Mach-E Premium with RWD handles. It has a lot of travel which feels bouncy. Owners with AWD do not complain as much as the weight of the front engine seems to balance out the ride better. Still waiting for Shelby or Steeda to come out with a way to tighten my ride up a bit like I did with my 2017 Mustang.

I own a fleet of EVs in Indiana and own both vehicles. I would have said it was a close decision, but my Mach E has been in the shop with Ford for the past 90 days. The HV battery shut down on the highway (had about 50% charge) and Ford can’t seem to fix it and their response to my buyback request has been slow.

For me the issue with the Mustang Mach E is the interior. Such a shame as the exterior is good looking but it looks like someone couldn't be bothered designing the interior and just stuck a pc monitor, on it's side, on the the dash!! I am currently in a decision stage but that interior has made be cross off the E Mach as a choice :(
