  3. Well, it is less polluting than a BEV when you consider everything. And hydrogen energy is a lot more dense that battery energy storage. But the issue is infrastructure, and can't really see it deployed for cars. Maybe large transport vehicles and airplanes. But interesting how some of the car companies are not giving up on it.

    Groan.

Energy density of hydrogen is irrelevant when you need 50kg+ of storage container to store just 1kg of hydrogen.

Interesting concept car, shame it's not in production.

  5. Like I said, hydrogen is more efficient for longer range and heavier transport vehicles. Problem is that batteries (incl Li Ion) still have low energy density compared to hydrogen and gasoline/diesel, requiring heavy batteries on board.

hydrogen psychosis - an irrational belief in hydrogen for transportation. Symptoms:
    • 3x cost per mile of hydrogen versus battery electric
    • astonished by fuel cell water exhaust
    • tax payer funded hydrogen fuel stations
    • vehicle makers do not fund or create hydrogen fuel station network
    • ignore battery needed for accelerator demand
    • hydrogen tank(s) volume in vehicle is not discussed
    • aging of high pressure hydrogen tanks and plumbing not mentioned

  8. So how do you explain why many large corps are investing in hydrogen solutions, not just cars, but large transport vehicles and large commercial aircraft? I am sure they don't want to just throw away money.

Myself, I see the challenges of hydrogen cars. But for large transport vehicles (like trains) and airliners (weight is important) I can see why that might work.

I worked for General Electric 13 years and Boeing for 5 years. They are not being guided by sound engineering but by the easily fooled. As Deming said, "Survival is not guaranteed."
    I'm patient.
