There are three aspects to towing.

Does your tow vehicle meet the legal requirements to tow the trailer and everything in the vehicle and trailer. That is a simple math equation with no grey area.

The second is, can the vehicle accelerate, maintain hwy speed and stop the trailer. This is somewhat subjective but usually not an issue if you are anywhere near the legal tow ratings.

The last item is very difficult to get people to understand and be honest about:

Will you enjoy the towing experience and is it safe: Most people here are very dishonest about this until their first close call with death. If you tow a 24' 5000lb trailer behind anything less than a 1/2 ton truck and tell others you don't even know the trailer was there you are likely not being honest. If you go on a RV forum you will see everyone recommending 3/4 or 1 ton trucks for even moderate trailers. Those are the experienced and honest people who probably had a bad experience with a half *** tow vehicle.

It will be a very long time befor EVs properly address this demographic.

Just an update on my 2022 Bolt EV order, I got an email from my dealer that my 2022 EV with a production date of 5/3/21 is now fully assembled and waiting to be loaded into a rail car. Expected arrival in California is within 30 to 45 days. I was also given the vin of my replacement Bolt. Thank you Chevy for the not so secret buyback program I now don't have to worry about parking inside my garage or the trade in value of my recalled Bolt.

  4. That sounds really awesome and happy for you.
GM has stepped up to the plate and is taking care of their customers with similar concerns in a relatively quick timeline, good to see.:)

Agree with you about GM stepping up to the plate and taking care of customers. I last owned a Gm product 40 years ago and have had mostly japanese and korean cars. But if GM supports all their product in this manner I will have to take a look at what GM offers before checking out what Honda or Toyota brings to the segment. That is my kudos to GM for how they responded to the Bolt recall, now about the quick timeline in your comment it took a month and a half to get to the end of the process which was fraught with frustration and disappointments and cases coming up behind mine are now taking two or more months to get completed. Customer reps were overwhelmed with cases so phone calls went directly to voicemail and emails were ignored or took longer than what is acceptable. But in the end everybody that survived the process were happy and satisfied with the outcome so again I give GM great credit for doing the right thing.
