It's almost like they don't even want to sell it...

€ 58.000. That's more than the Mustang Mach E extended range. Hyundai's gone crazy.

  7. Do the rear seats fold down with access from the trunk or hatchback? The rear-wheel-drive motor is probably in the way of allowing a near-flat hatchback floor like the Kona Electric.

Here's a good video that explains a lot about the vehicle. Almost like an instruction manual ;)

They had a configurator up on the UK website earlier - I tried to post but as a new user it didn't come up, looks like they've taken it down now. :(

  14. Yes, the rear seat backs fold down.

Well, I was trying to put down the £1000 to secure the reservation from 7:00am {UK}, but the pages always crashed when it came to enter my address - kept saying my phone number was in the wrong format?? - & the paypal button didn't exist!!
Been trying again throughout the day but now keep being redirected to this "sorry" page

Just watched the IONIQ 5 reveal
Website was definitely having some issues even last night. They even had a picture of the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid instead of the IONIQ 5 for the "Phantom Black" color.

European ordering website still down all day today!!
I rang the Hyundai UK customer care line earlier & they just repeated the "website down due to higher than expected customer demand etc" message, & not knowing when it will be back up again.
Here's what Auto Express found out:-

From the "MediaHut" video above, I saw the images of the Camera Mirrors & Monitors, but all the pictures of the car so far show standard glass mirrors - Can anyone do a translation, or have any idea if these are an optional extra?

  19. I've read reports of a dealer helping one customer take care of their order. Not sure if you've tried that route, but worth a shot if not.

I'd already tried that on day 1 - surprisingly, the dealership apparently hadn't been informed of the Ioniq 5 launch so they weren't able do do much.
However, I received the following email direct from HyundaiUK this morning:-
    Power Your World.
    The IONIQ 5 Project 45

    Dear xxxxx,
Firstly we would like to apologise for any technical issues you may have experienced on Tuesday whilst visiting our IONIQ 5 Project 45 reservation site. We have been overwhelmed with interest in our new car and our website was unable to cope with the level of traffic.
As somebody who has already registered their interest in IONIQ 5 we wanted you to be the first to know that the pre-order website will be re-opened from 9am today (25th February) for 24 hours. If you are interested in reserving your opportunity to purchase one of the first IONIQ 5 models to arrive in the UK, the Limited Edition Project 45, then the pre-order website will allow you to do this (please note, reservations are allocated on a first come, first serve basis).
    Request Yours
We will of course continue to keep you updated on the IONIQ 5 ahead of its arrival later this year. If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact the Customer Contact Centre on 03443 460126 or [email protected]

    Kind Regards,
    IONIQ 5 Customer Concierge Team

This link also appeared to be down (or swamped) for the first 90 minutes, but after many tries, I eventually got it working - Chose Colour {Black/White/Teal/Gold} - Interior {Black/White} - Dealer {my nearest is 16 miles away} & contact details.
Importantly, they didn't try to take any deposit this time, I think it was this payment stage that had been crashing the site across Europe, but instead they now say we have to wait to see if we have been lucky enough to be selected & if so will be contacted by the local dealer for the deposit - see screenshot

Not exactly how a new car launch should be handled - I'll update if I've been selected

  21. Thanks for this, @restyler. I have to say, Hyundai's handling of this launch hasn't impressed me.

  22. Wasn't sure to post this in the pre-order thread, but I will post it here in response to restyler.
This article shows the quantity of pre-orders to date (in Korea alone) - 23,760 the day after the window opened.
Additionally the production may be delayed due to a shortage of vehicle semiconductors (automotive microcontroller units) stating" some parts inventory levels are at an emergency level and may run out of stock in weeks"
