  1. Just throwing it in there, but even though the mach-e has a bigger battery it might have a worse range. I haven't seen a compostable test yet, but it looks like that.

I'm waiting to see some test on the Mach E (base) select RWD model. Ford decided to sandbag a little and lot of battery capacity is locked out -- for now. Ford could add a lot more range in coming months and years by simply unlocking more capacity. Lucky for all of us that more (non Kia/Hyundai) options are on the horizon.

Reporting back. I'm the guy with the E711 and reported hearing the clicks again.

Since hearing very audible clicking in a parking lot, I have not heard it come back again. I'm certainly not willing to say the issue is resolved, since I had a similar experience with my 710 motor, but I think it's promising that I have not heard it come back since approximately 2 months ago.

I'm at around 10,000KM on my E711 thus far. My E710 got bad at around 22,000km... so... a ways to go yet.

I had my motor replaced at Southwest Kia in Dallas. Just off I-20 east of 67. They have EV certified techs.

For all those looking at the Mach-E you have to watch out for dealers marking up the price.

There is supposedly a list somewhere that contains the names of dealerships that have pledged to not markup the Mach E. Of course, there's nothing saying they won't as it's only a pledge. I am very interested in the Mach E, but I plan to wait at least 1 year before making any decisions. Ford has said they will be making about 60k Mach Es in 2021, so the car should be in good supply by the end of 2021. Also, Ford has said they will be updating the self-driving feature to be hands-free OTA within the first 6 months. I think it pays to wait for first model year bugs to be worked out for the 2nd model year.

After driving the Niro for almost 5k miles, one of the things that annoys me about it is the fact that it is front wheel drive. I have concluded that electric cars and front wheel drive are the worse possible combination due to torque steer. While you can buy the Mach E as RWD or AWD, I am currently thinking the extended range RWD Premium model is what I am most interested in. EPA 300 mile range, the most of all of the motor/battery combinations of the Mach E. I guess we'll just have to see how it all goes over the next 12 months.

I noticed at https://www.oekiapartsdirect.com/oem-parts/kia-traction-motor-assembly-365000e712?c=az0xJnE9MzY1MDAtMEU3MTE%3D that there is now a E712 that replaces the E711?

Sounds like we are in almost the same situation. Our car has been at the dealer since before Halloween "waiting on parts from Korea." I contacted a Lemon Law lawyer to see how to proceed because I don't feel like waiting longer from them to replace reducer gear only to have to do it again. What happened with yours?

So my car has been there for 50 days now, way past the lemon law threshold of 30 days. Not a peep from the dealer and my letter was delivered to kia 10 days ago but still no response from them. I have to figure out my next steps if I don't receive a response this week.

@uujames what did your lawyer say? Looks like you're probably over 2 months without your car at this point.

Lawyer says we will be eligible for Lemon Law buyback but it will be 4-6 months before Kia is forced to act. I already called Kia and asked them to just buy back the car so it would have clear title and they could fix and resell it rather than it being declared a Lemon and almost unsellable but they have gone ghost on us too. Allegedly car is supposed to be fixed at the end of this week. We were advised to take it and drive it as normal while the case proceeds.

Not sure if you're in California but it has arbitration process that is free. I may contact them and go from there while also talk to a lawyer.

In California but decided to contact a lawyer rather than waiting out arbitration. My thinking is Kia more likely to respond to lawyer correspondence rather than my own certified letter. Kia is required to pay legal fees so lawyers take case for free (contingency) when they know you have a case.

As a general rule of thumb, if you have an option to not use arbitration of any kind -- binding or not -- it is in your best interest to do so. Arbitrators, despite their claim to be neutral, are not. Since they are paid by the companies, it should come as no surprise they will generally rule in the favor of those they are paid by. Otherwise, they won't be in the business of arbitrating very long.

I have to go to Arbitration personally since I purchased in the State of Washington, which requires you start with arb. Really varies by state. I can only sue on appeal after arbitration concludes.

Unfortunately, the click is most certainly present on my E711. I'm now at around 11,000km on the new motor.
I'll be calling my local dealership to initiate the issue once I have some time to do so. I'll keep people here posted.

Sorry to hear that. I'm now dying to know if the E712 actually fixed the underlying issue...
