Just got notice of a new recall affecting the antilock brake system.. Recall #199. The dealer has said he doesn't have a fix from Hyundai. Has anyone else got this response?

Just checked at autoservice.hyundaiusa.com and sure enough... wonder what the issue is this time. (Edit: Nothing on NHTSA yet)

I just dropped off my car for 196 and the advisor said there were two recalls but one doesn’t have a remedy yet. He showed me the paperwork and sure enough, 199. Something about a braking system?

I’m mostly annoyed, since this is the third recall/service campaign since I bought the car less than five months ago.

  5. IMO this is an area where Tesla is superior. They do the software updates over the air saving multiple trips to the dealer.

  9. Nothing for mine yet either (2019). Guess Canada is behind as usual...

This is the recall. It is a new defect in the brake software. Dealer was suppose to call me when he had a fix but hasn't yet.

  11. My local dealer was unaware of this little gem when I booked an appointment today for next Monday. She (service advisor) even said it may not be applicable in NZ but I'd bet that's not the case. We brake for stuff much the same as everyone else in the world does.

I checked my VIN and recall 199 shows up with no solution yet..

  14. Just made an appointment for Thursday but received a call back ten minutes later advising that the service shop still doesn't have the fix they need. I'm on a wait list, to be notified.

    Curious for the details...

So far there's only been one oddity about the brakes that I've noticed: Sometimes, when coming to a very gentle stop, the car will slow down almost to a standstill but then lurch forward.

What it feels like, is the "creep" function (what makes the car go forward when you release the brake, like an automatic transmission would) kicks in even though you haven't released the brake. Seems to happen only when braking *very* gently. My guess is the pedal is pressed just enough for the regen to activate, but not enough to prevent the creep from turning on, and also not enough for the friction brakes to be doing anything useful.

I'll see if I can safely reproduce the issue after work today just to confirm.

  16. Yes I got the same response. Only I took my car in cause I was told to bring it in. When I picked it up the paper work said no remedy ? I love the car and picked it over a Tesla because of its compact size. I will tell you that the braking system sucks really. They lock in me without pressing really hard. They r probably the worst I have ever felt in a car.

  18. I told a couple other guys that when I pressed on my brakes gently the have locked on my skidding. Very very poor system. I chose this car over a Tesla because of its size. I took it to the dealer and was told no remedy ...

  19. Interesting. I just checked my VIN on Hyundai web site and found no recall for my car, an April 2019 build date.

  20. I've definitely had this happen at least 4 or 5 times in approx. 10,000 miles of use.

Mine is April 2019 as well and the recall shows up for my VIN. Mine is 037003

  22. Just had our car in for the battery recall and was told another recall was coming, but that they didn't have a fix for it yet. I guess from previous posts it has to do with the brakes??

Same here in SF BAY AREA. Recall 199 is due for mine as well. But dealership Service isn't able to address yet.
