Hey guys I've had this idea to fix range anxiety for a while now. How about a 150KwH trailer to get you 500-800 kms then swap it out for a freshly charged one and keep going.

Honestly, there is no need, we have very reasonable long range EVs and honestly the weight of a trailer would reduce range and offset any additional battery capacity.

  4. I have no range anxiety. I can drive over 275 miles on a charge. Most people are looking for a brake after three to four hours of driving. So stopping to charge is really not a problem. On long trips I plan on charging during meal stops. I have driven over 800 miles in a day. A battery trailer really isn't need with today's longer range EV's

We don't need to kludge an aging technology that is rapidly going away. For example, charging my 2019 Std Rng Plus Model 3.

    April 2019:

This graph generated from transcription of a cabin dashcam. Notice the car starts with 25 miles already in the battery. If you scale the charge, in 13 minutes it adds 75 miles versus 100 miles a year later.

    April 2020:
    250_kW_charge.jpg
This graph was generated from OBD data collected by "Scan My Tesla." Notice the car starts with 0 miles in the battery. If you add the 25 miles start from a year earlier, it becomes 125 miles in 13 minutes, much faster, 125%.

Now if the trailered battery could be the house emergency power and use off-hours charging for rate savings ... a kind of power wall, maybe. But given how few can handle towing a trailer, I wouldn't.

  6. Sorry, I couldn't resist... Saw this on another forum. And before you flame me, I really am an EV fan... But I had a good laugh when I saw this.
