Toi & TittaPDX: are you guys financing your MINIs through MINI USA? I wonder if that could’ve affected any progress.
I didn't do any financing negotiation until after my SE was at the dealer. I thought it was kind of odd to do a custom order with no commitment, but I guess dealers assume any configuration will sell to someone.
They aren't wrong... shortly after I ordered, my dealer called up and offered me a vehicle that was 'close' to what I ordered that had been passed on by the original orderer... I declined and it was sold within the next 24 hrs.
Did your dealership allow any manufacturer special offers available for the 2020 SE to be used when financing your (I assume) 2021?
The only incentive available was the one available at the time of actual purchase. I was quite concerned because my SE sat in Baltimore through the end of July and into August, so I missed out on the July incentive. But I asked my dealer about the cutoff and was told they would only offer what was available at the time papers were signed. Luckily for me, the incentive was extended (or better) for August. I was able to get the 0.9% APR that's being offered right now, which seems to be extended each month.
Yeah, that 0.9% APR is what I have my eye on. I'm hoping my SE can get from Baltimore to my dealership before the end of the month so I don't have to worry about whether or not that offer will be renewed. The fine print specifies 2020 model year SE, so I wanted to make sure that wasn't an asterisk that meant my 2021 would not qualify.
My dealer told me two weeks ago that the '21SE qualifies for the .9% financing. Whether the applicant does depends upon BMW/Mini's qualification rules (but the application form doesn't seem severe). The .9% financing has been in effect month after month since the first time I looked which was maybe May. Dealer still insisting on MSRP. The only other "break" they are offering is a 20% discount on any accessories Mini offers.
Interesting. My dealer rep told me I was locked in to the 0.9% when I paid my $500 and made my order on July 2. They had me fill out the financing qualification paperwork. But, as you mention, they keep extending it anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
This seems... shady. I would complain heavily if I saw multiple pulls on my credit report as a result of such activity.
MINI of Portland had you fill out the financing qualification paperwork? They've never asked me anything about how I'm going to pay for the vehicle.
GDOG - mind weighing in on your registration fees? I haven't had a brand new car since i was 16 and this is also my first EV. Looking online, it looks like there are the following fees for plate and registration: Plate fees (for standard tree plate) = $24.50 Registration fee = $306 for all-electric vehicle (did you sign up for OReGO, reduced registration fee but pay monthly fee based on miles driven?) County fee = $38 for Multnomah county, it will cost me $60 in Washingon county Here's where I get tripped up...NEW VEHICLE with manufacturer's certificate of origin: Double the registration and county fees So, for me, that would be $24.50 + (($306 + $60) * 2) = $756.50...yes?
I think it was more like $1,200? When I researched fees prior to buying the car I recall registration being more in the $800 realm. There's a $115 processing fee in there as well.
Thanks for your input! I just found the title & registration fee calculation fee on the DOT website. Looks like: Title Fee - electric, new to Oregon = $187 Base registration fee - 4 year passenger electric = $612 County Fee (WA county) = $120 Plate manufacturing fee = $24.50 If I go with a custom plate: Custom Plate fee = $200 Smokey Bear plate fee = $40 Total = $1,183.50 So I can save myself $240 if I don't get a custom plate. But add in (dealer) paperwork fee. Coming from an ICE, I hadn't really thought about the increased registration costs. But a plus is that Oregon has no sales tax so I don't have to incur that cost .
I'm still waiting at the Port. Time to call ASK MINI. I hope PDX Mini isn't monitoring this site and getting me back for my less than flattering posts. "He's whining, leave him on the dock for few weeks!" LOL
(looks over shoulder) Seattle Mini has done a bang-up job with my order, I couldn't be happier! /sarcasm over... in all seriousness, I do actually have to praise them... by far the best dealer experience I have had to date and by far not my first new car rodeo.
Mine is still at port too, we are the port buddies. I messaged my MINI dealer and let them to check out for me. Fingers crossed
Hi all Just joined this forum. Just picked up my signature trim a couple of weeks back. I paid the deposit and test drove one in March. Love it, especially the fun factor ! Planning on installing a level 2 charger in the garage next. Looking forward to being part of this forum.
