  1. Change is coming to the Hyundai Kona Electric. The automaker just released a couple images of what appears to be a refresh of the model, for both internal combustion and electric versions.

Besides this refresh, there will also be an additional N-Line Kona (N Line is the performance version), though it's unknown if the Electric will be included here.

Also unknown is whether there will be any other changes to the driveline, either in the way of more power or range. It is likely to come with changes to the interior.

There will be more info coming out about this over the next few weeks and we'll add the updates to this thread when they're available.

To me, one of the coolest Tesla attributes is their continual improvement of already sold models. It's revolutionary. The concept "once you've bought it, you're stuck with it" has been the auto industry's way for a century. Let's hope Hyundai and other manufacturers learn something.

So far the changes seem mainly cosmetic.

  6. A refresh is due, IMO. But even a mild tow rating would be much preferred and be a game changer.

  9. Both exciting and frustrating as a recent buyer of a Kona. The teaser images look nice, sportier than current model.

  10. I agree definitely looks impressive and likely the changes are cosmetic as mentioned above.
Some features that would sway me to trade up would include several missing options such as :
    (1) Battery temp gauge
    (2) AWD
    (3) Surround view cameras
    (4) Power tailgate
    (5) Vertical tilting headlight adjustment (like the European models)
and tow rating as previously mentioned

There is a company that can do the power tailgate for around $700 plus installation.

  13. All decent upgrades, I would add heat pump and roof rails to my list.

However, I would be dissuaded to upgrade if they make the Kona physically bigger, longer.

I would accept a couple inches longer if they added it to the back seat leg room.

  15. I get the need or want but just wouldn’t buy it again under those circumstances. However if they shortened the hood to get the extra interior space that would be great although it wouldn’t work for ICE platform anymore.

It's too early in the model cycle for the sort of structural changes needed to make the car significantly larger or bump up rear legroom in a meaningful way, which would likely require stretching the wheelbase. Expect more cosmetic changes inside and out, and potentially some alterations in equipment or tweaks to the battery.
