Oh man, sounds like you've been through it a bit with nonsense. I wonder if we could fly my drone over the offload of Orion Highway and get that done... lol. They may be able to tell us as people to scram, but I bet they don't have drone defense lol. The SE is fairly uncommon and we'd be able to tell what were SE's from a distance... then zoom into the few that are BRG SE's and get it done...lol.

I kinda wanna provide this service to others, but I'd have to imagine after a bit the FAA would probably shut it down rather quickly lol.
There are drone pilots that do regular videos of Tesla facilities and Tesla doesn't care, it's free advertising. Like tesrivmini mentioned though, ports are a different level with border customs involved.

Finally - I just got off the phone with 866-ASK-MINI and my vehicle is due to be delivered to the dealer from the Baltimore VDC tomorrow 6/9/2022 to Mini of Alexandria. Anyone else picking theirs up there? I saw 3-4 SE's parked on the side of the dealership this week (I work right around the corner in Alexandria). I'm looking forward to motoring around DC this weekend (or motoring out of DC TBH). My MA and I set the appointment for me to sign and drive on Friday night. I ordered mine (Base MRG Signature SE) on/around 3/7/2022.
I picked mine up from there this past Saturday.

Make sure to check your active grill shutters. I didn't realize until driving back home (249miles) that mine were loose.

Otherwise the process was okay. Bit annoying waiting 3 hours to sign even though I was paying myself, but they were friendly and apologetic.

Thanks for the heads up on the active grille shutters.

My MA actually told me that Saturdays have been a real challenge for them since all the cars seem to come in at once and everyone wants to pick them up on Saturday. That's why we (well mostly my Motoring Advisor) were aiming for Friday night. I've already made my down payment, they secured for us financing, and I initially took a draft order / contract / buyers order etc for my wife to sign where she is working abroad, thinking we could get the paperwork done that way without a power of attorney, and then have the docs notarized and I'd drop them off to the dealer when I got back. We found too many errors to have her sign purchase docs with the wrong dollar amount being financed, so I just had a notary prepare a limited power of attorney for automotive purchase on her behalf so I can correct the errors I found and transact the entire sale myself in her stead in person.

Did you have any issues with fees other than the $599 processing fee? I've had to show them the net costs of registration from Washington, DC, DMV, and taxes differ than what they put on my initial contract paperwork. Pretty significant dollar difference - but I attribute that to likely to end of the day and I was hurrying them to finish so I could get the paperwork ready to travel.

So far I've had a good experience working with them and my MA and the management have been very helpful. That being said I too waited like 2.5 hours for my initial contract paperwork when I was given an appointment time.

I would have preferred a Friday pickup myself, but partner and I couldn't both take off work to make the 4-hour drive up there.

No real issues with fees, they do owe me a little bit of money though, which I believe were tax/title problems from the buyers order not being super accurate (and I brought a cashier's check from my bank matching the buyers order). Can't say I was super confident that it was all handled correctly, but it seemed okay.

Same situation here, it sounds like. I think they could do a little better with the prices you see on the buyers' order translating to order / finance docs. I also think that - and a lot of dealers are like this - there's a get it 95% right attitude on the sales side and the business office will send you the corrected amounts, etc. Seems pretty common in a lot of dealerships. Either way they have a good reputation around here as a quality location on both the service side and the sales side, and I'm pretty pleased.

Oh yea - none of it is out of the norm from my past dealership experiences. No idea why it's such a hard concept. I was also surprised to get temp plates even though I'm in VA. Most dealerships seem to hand out actual plates now.

I worked for about 3-4 years in the auto business, and I did a lot of the finance / temp tag / dealer paperwork for two different locations. I don't really get it, because I was always super meticulous with the DMV costs and fees, taxes, etc - down to the last detail. But I've always seen it in the auto business. BTW mine just came in tonight to the dealer.

Though I’m quite sure my car made it to Southampton before the last Halifax-bound ship sailed, I doubt it made it onto that ship, and my MA has since even told me that the estimated delivery is July 6. Nevertheless, I just texted him (yet again) to send me the status number, and a copy of the final build sheet with any credits or deletions. I’m not sure he’s being intentionally cagey about that, buthe has never responded after each timeI’ve asked for the build sheet.

Welp, status is still at the port. Perhaps the Tijuca didn’t pick up any Mini’s in Southampton. The Sagittarius Leader just left Southampton today so perhaps mine will have made that one. Fingers crossed.

Picked up my new iconic SE today from MINI of Marin. The drive home was mostly highway and I was on a tighter schedule so I wasn’t able to really explore the more entertaining characteristics of the car…looking forward to discovering them over the next few days. There were 3 other preordered SE’s sitting in the showroom waiting to be picked up. The whole purchasing process was super easy and straight forward at Marin, definitely recommend them to anyone in the SF Bay Area. I was in and out of the dealership in under an hour, most of which was spent going over the car. Ended up getting the car a few days under 3 months from our initial deposit.

I've been following this thread for a while now...thanks for all the great information. My Iconic Island Blue SE arrived at Southampton today, according to the Mini garage. Any idea on what ship it might be catching to Port Hueneme (San Diego final destination)?

Only after it's on a ship will 866-ASK-MINI be able to tell you the name of the ship that's bringing your wonderful SE to you. Then you have to decide if you want to graphically track its progress across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, and up to Port Hueneme.

MINI's Island Blue is gorgeous. What color did you choose for your roof and mirrors? Which wheels did you pick? (I apologize if you've already told us and I forgot.)
