Looking at the photos of a USA SEL vs. Ultimate trim, I see that only the Ultimate has the rectangular radar dish on the front bumper. Does that mean the SEL and Limited trims don't have any radar assisted features like smart cruise control, automatic emergency breaking, etc.?
https://www.hyundaiusa.com/kona-electric/index.aspx scroll down a little to where it says "Compare 3 KONA ELECTRIC trims" then click "See full specs" and you will be able to see what features each one offers. Smart cruise control seems to only be on the Ultimate trim. They all have Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, but the Ultimate is the only one with Pedestrian Detection.
So radar is only used for adaptive cruise? I wonder how Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is implemented on the lower trims without radar. Cameras?
According to the Canadian Brochure: " The standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system uses the front-mounted camera and the radar sensor to monitor the traffic ahead " Also: " the standard Rear Cross- Traffic Collision Warning uses radar to warn the driver of vehicles approaching from either side, even before they come into view of the standard rearview camera.
