  1. First deliveries of the Polestar 2 are supposed to start happening this summer. At the same time, the first Polestar "spaces" should start appearing.

Beginning in New York City (Manhatten Motorcars), Los Angeles (Galpin), and San Francisco (2 Price-Simms dealers, possibly Volvo Marin and Volvo Palo Alto), the rollout will continue in 2021 with locations in Boston, Denver, Texas, Washington D.C., and Florida being added.

The company expects that by next summer, about 80% of its customers will be within 150 miles of a "space." Cars will be available in all 50 states and be delivered to customers. Those farther than 150 miles may have to pay a little extra for transportation.

I'll leave the associated press releases with more details in the next post below.

  3. Polestar Cars Announces First U.S. Retail Partners, Cities and 2021 Retail Plans
Rockleigh, NJ (May 18, 2020) – Polestar, the electric performance car brand from Sweden, announces the first retail partners in the U.S. for its network of Polestar Spaces in New York City and Los Angeles, as well as two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Polestar will collaborate with established retailer groups including Manhattan Motorcars, Galpin Motors and Price-Simms Automotive Group for initial locations planned to open in the second half of 2020.

In the first half of 2021, Polestar also anticipates expansion of its initial footprint via additional retailers who will open locations in the Boston, Denver, Texas, Washington D.C. and Florida regions. Additional locations via additional retailers will continue to open over time.

“We have been able to partner with retailers that that embrace Polestar’s innovative retail and service models. This will of course be a major benefit to our customers,” said Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar USA. “With more than 80 percent of Polestar 2 reservation holders residing within a 150-mile range of the Spaces scheduled to open by mid 2021, customers will be well supported throughout their relationship with Polestar.”

To supplement its digital retail model, Polestar Spaces—physical retail showrooms—will host non-commissioned Polestar Specialists to assist customers with product information and test drives of the brand’s first vehicles, the electric performance hybrid GT Polestar 1 and all-electric performance fastback Polestar 2.

Polestar will offer a convenient home delivery and service program for all Polestar models. Polestar customers living within 150 miles of a Polestar Space can have their new car delivered to their door and picked up for future servicing.

The program enables customers to enjoy seamless Polestar ownership without having to leave their homes. For customers living beyond the 150-mile delivery radius, their nearest Polestar Space will work to provide the most convenient solution for their needs. Polestar vehicles are available for sale and delivery in all 50 states.

The home delivery option and range will remain in place as future Spaces open, offering more convenient access to those in other areas of the country who want to visit a Space for a test drive or make material selections for their future car.

  4. Statement From Polestar Cars Regarding US Retail Network and Home Delivery
Rockleigh, NJ (May 6, 2020) – Ahead of announcing full details of the Polestar retail Spaces, Polestar wishes to clarify several facts regarding the forthcoming retail network and home delivery program.

    • Polestar vehicles can be delivered to any place in the United States.
    • In the second half of 2020, Polestar Spaces will open in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area (2 locations) and New York City.
    • In the following months, the company anticipates expansion of its initial retail footprint to Texas; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Washington D.C. and Florida.
    • The retail network will continue to expand in due course.
    • Polestar customers outside of the launch cities will be supported by the nearest Space and service center until a Space opens closer to their location.
    • For these customers, Polestar will offer a convenient home delivery and service program for all Polestar models. • The home delivery option and range will remain in place as future Spaces open, offering even more access to those in other areas of the country.

I really like the sage green XC40 Recharge model, but with the additions I would prefer, it has an MSRP of $81.5K Cdn. Additionally I really am impressed how the Panoramic roof front section opens and tilts.
Probably the best deal on optional equipment is the heat pump at reasonable (affordable) $450:)

Oh well, if I am down that way I will pre book a test drive anyway, just to check it out.
