I noticed recently when I finally used my tow hitch for attaching a bicycle carrier. I turned off the dash button for rear detection, but even when the rack was empty, the rear warning sounded continuously when in reverse. It appears anything sticking out past the rear bumper triggers the sensors. Has anyone figured out what setting need to be disabled to turn off these rear warnings? This is for a Kia Niro EV.
There is a fairly long thread on installing a trailer hitch on a Hyundai Kona Electric. Since the Kona and Niro have the same drive train and you might try posting your question there and perhaps some one has encountered this issue and would have an answer for you.
