I'm not sure what pdf you are referencing. The service bulletin 18-090 says to check the VIN range.

Yes, thanks, though that I was talking about 18-090.

My dealer didn't mention those to me so maybe they were applied to my car before delivery, or Honda isn't being aggressive enough about releasing these.

Print out the pdf that I posted and show them. It's clear what they need to do;)

    Hope this helps.

Sorry- I was trying to post this solution to another poster.

I went round and round until I located this pdf. I'm trying to get it into the hands if all Clarity owners to help them .

It seems that anyone having any similar charging error, should have this done asap .

I just wish that the dealers would do all if these updates prior to selling the vehicle , as this leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Getting a brand new vehicle serviced is frustrating for many reasons:)

Just had 18-090 done today. HV range went up. I guess this is supposed to happen?

Urggghhh- my dealer swears that my car already has these updates. I must have asked "are you sure? And can you just reload them onto the car?" 5 times, all to no avail.

So I got my car back with no changes. Ironically enough it hasn't happened during the 3 days since I got the car back. But I think that's it's just luck.

If they didn't change anything, then my issue will reappear. Every other ev at work charges without issue . Only the 1 Clarity, me, has the occasional charging issue.

And don't get me started on hondalink or Android auto which absolutely refuse to work at all:)

Other than these issues, I absolutely love the car. But I need the free charging at work or my calculations for buying the car turn upside down:(

For the Honda Link/Android auto problem try resetting the head unit by holding down the audio button. Several have had success with that. Good luck.

I feel like this thread got a little off topic....

I bought my Clarity a week ago and went the whole week using only EV (my work parking garage has free Level 2 charging :)).

Last night I was driving my father around showing him the car and pushed the Sport and HV buttons to show him the changes to the gauges and I couldn’t figure out how to get it back into EV mode! Simply pushing the Eco button just put it in HV Eco mode. Long press of the Eco button did nothing.

I finally figured out a work around that may or may not be the official way to get it back into EV mode. I pushed Sport mode then Eco mode.

There’s no really way to force the car into EV mode. The other modes you turn on will have an influence into when EV mode will kick in.

To have EV mode on most of the time, you want to turn off Sport and HV, and turn on Eco. Note that a hard acceleration or if the battery goes down to 2 bars, ICE will turn on.

If you have sufficient battery but ICE turns on, it will stay on for a few minutes the first time in order to warm up the engine.

    Hope this helps.

When the Clarity PHEV starts its engine, it wants to keep it running long enough to warm up the oil because allowing the engine to start and stop, start and stop, start and stop while cold is not good for prolonging the engine's life. That said, there is one non-recommended way to get back to EV mode: pull over and stop, power down the car, start the car again. The Clarity doesn't seem to always remember that it was trying to warm up the oil when you power down the car so it may not restart the engine when you restart the car.

Had full battery when i switched it out of EV mode to HV mode. It seems as though my method (putting in Sport mode then hitting Eco) is the only way to switch back into EV mode while driving (like it is when you first turn the car on) if you have sufficient battery.

AA also often refuses to start if your phone is locked. Turn on the car, let it spend a bit of time booting up, unlock your phone, and only after your phone is unlocked plug it into the car. Any time I've plugged it in while the phone is locked or before the car has finished booting, it will be finicky about actually starting AA.

I don’t know if this will work when the car is in motion, but at standstill I can switch out of HV just by pressing the HV button again, but not long enough to enter HV Charge.
I have found that a super quick press of HV at any time isn’t always recognized by the car. I have to give it a “good” press not an extremely short “flick” of a press. Might this be why some can’t get it out of HV after the mandatory warmup? Or it might be only my car does this. Need some to try this and report back.

Wouldn't put much stock in your "method". It could have just been the appropriate amount of time you killed trying various things that the control system decided the engine had been running long enough and turned off of its own accord. When the engine starts, let it run and turn off as it decides best; don't try to force it.

I got the ICE started my mistake the other day, and as I was close to home waiting at a light I decided to use the restart method to force it off (I was embarrassed at burning gas).

Well it was smarter than me and started up again when I left the light.

    But that is off topic.

I have a low NIV and all fixes were applied.

I have noticed the same exact thing with my car, I have to push the HV button down somewhere between (too) Quick and (not) HV Charge Mode. I’d call it .5 seconds exactly. A 1.5 second push will get me HV Charge mode instead.

That's what I do. I just fiddled with all the buttons the first time I drove it until I found the one that did what I wanted it to do. It has worked consistently the entire month I've had the car.

Had trouble charging at work and brought the car to dealer to have the SB 097 applied, but they claimed I already have the latest software since they installed the HV range fix and the multiple waiting update.

I have my doubts since I see other cars charge at the same station and I can charge at an identical station next to it. But will have to wait and see.
