I don't have a cellphone but I do have an android Ipad. Can I use it like other people use their Iphones on their Kona's to pre heat etc...If so I need some hints on doing that
There is a "BlueLink" app that you should find in the Android play store. Expect to be disappointed, in that it can be kind of slow and sometimes it appears to not work. But for turning on the climate, it will eventually do the job. Once you get the app installed, you will need to add the vehicle - if you just bought the car, it might take a day or two for the dealer to set things up for you. You will need the VIN for this. Then select the "Remote Start" button on the main screen. Which is a little counter-intuitive, but that's where you find the stuff to turn on the climate.
So I'm connected to my car through my Tablet it shows I'm connected. So Now I understand I need a app on my tablet. I will search for that..
No bluetooth. The tablet needs WiFi to connect to the BlueLink servers. The app doesn't connect directly to the car - it goes through Hyundai servers. This is generally the really slow part.
Yes, you need the app. I am not sure what you get by pairing the tablet to the car, but it wasn't needed for BlueLink to work. If you think about it, you might want to turn on the climate when you are well outside the bluetooth range of the car.
I take that back. From my laptop I can do similar things to the car just using a browser connected to this: https://owners.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/index.html The app just makes it a bit easier if you are on Android.
Few tablets have LTE connections, and if this is the case the mobile app shouldn't even show up in the store.
Thanks for all of this I think I'll just go out and start it before I leave it doesn't get that cold here and the car warms up in about 3 minutes Thanks again.
