After owning and driving my Clarity for a bit over a month I finally saw another one (other than on the dealer's lot). I was plugging in for a free charge while parking at a city garage last evening in Durham when I spotted a "Moonlit Forest" getting a free dinner two spaces away.
I’ve seen zero in my home area as well as downtown Toronto. I’m always looking for the distinctive DRLs too.
I saw my first just last week. Must be from out of town because I bought the first from my local dealer and their second still hasn't sold.
Funny story.... I was in my store (I own a mail/business center) making some copies for an older couple last week. The copiers are in the front of the store by the entrance. As I was waiting for the copier to finish I looked out the front window and saw my gray Clarity parked right in front. It took me a second and then I thought to myself why would my Clarity be parked right in front of my store in the customer parking area. I then asked the older couple if that was their car and it turns out it was. I told them I had the exact same car and pointed accross the parking lot to mine. We talked for a little while about it and they told me they absolutely loved how smooth and quiet it drove. As they were leaving I saw them pull up behind mine and looked at it for a little while. After they pulled away I saw that theirs had the silver rims (instead of the two-tone silver/gray) and I realized theirs was the Electric version. I also saw a white one the very next day pulling into Costco as I was leaving.
I saw a white one near the University of Cincinnati campus about a month ago, but that has been it. I took ours to the mall a few days ago and someone stopped me in the parking lot to ask me about it, so that was cool.
Oklahoma City.....NONE SIGHTED!!!!! No one EVER EVER complimented me on my Nissan LEAF! I have had several "nice car" comments and a couple of thumbs up even. I am liking this car more and more. At 750 miles I still have the complimentary dealer first tank of gas. I must admit keeping that tank of gas has become somewhat of a game at this point.
I'm in Sacramento where every third car is electric it seems, but the Clarity is still virtually unknown. Not even people I know with PHEVs know what this is. Mine is the EV and I've only seen a handful around town, but now that PHEV is selling, I'm starting to see more. There are 3 in my parking garage at work! The hydrogen FCEV is still pretty rare, mostly because Sacramento only has one fuel station in town... Sent from my iPad using Inside EVs
I've never been complimented on our Leaf, either. But I still think it is a fun car to drive, and I like how it looks.
I saw one when I was driving my truck here in St. Louis. He ran away from my 1-ton diesel! I just wanted to talk!!!
Sometimes I think the only Clarity's on the road are owned by the members of this forum. Of course, I live in the wilds of remote West Texas, but trips to El Paso, DFW, and Austin have yet to find one sighting in the wild. Prius' everywhere, even a few Prius Primes, but no Clarity. PS - I was stopped at a red light right next to a Prius Prime a couple of weeks ago - man am I glad about my decision - it looks positively TINY compared to my Clarity, and I get TWICE the EV mileage! And it's ugly to boot...
Previously, a big car = gas guzzler. Not so for the Clarity. It is a guiltless (well, almost) pleasure!
None in NE Ohio (other than the one that has been sitting at the local dealer. It's a base model black if anyone is looking...)
And mine is the Modern Steel (or Gray) version, although this weekend I'm driving it down to NJ for a soccer tournament.
I have the only Modern Steel in my area. There is also a sliver and a red, but I've only seen each of them once.
Hopefully sales will ramp up so we see more on the road. Are folks in the US still seeing cars unsold in dealerships? In Canada (or at least Ontario where we get a very aggressive $13k provincial rebate) the combination of low supply and new demand means there’s none around to test drive. The latest US sales figures from http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-data/honda/honda-clarity/ are attached.
