Real smart EV charger

    Hello, Does anyone know an intelligent EV charger with the following features:
    I have a Tesla Model Y

    Must be 48 Amp Level 2
    Waterproof for outdoor
    With Wifi and app control
    Ability to schedule start and end time
    Ability to set access list, who can charger and who can't

    Tesla Gen3 outdoor charger has access control via app but can't set end charging time
    Many other brand charger has good hardware but no wifi

    Basically, does anyone know a smart ev charger that is smarter than Telsa Outwall Gen3?

    I’ve had a lot of success with JuiceNet 40 Pro and know they have higher amp units.

  4. That's not true. You can set start time and end time both for charging Tesla with Tesla wall connector.
    Infact that's one of extra advantage if you have Gen 3 TWC. You just use Tesla app and add TWC to app, then you can set both start time ad end time.

    However its true that default Tesla car side settings don't allow this, but charger side settings allow.

    I thought the max current a plug-in EVSE could deliver was 40 Amps, but Tessery says their plug-in EVSE can pump out 48 Amps. How did they do that?

    My Tesla Universal wall charger requires a 60 A circuit. Recommended 80% load becomes:

    80% * 60 A = 48 A​

    But can a plug-in EVSE provide 48 Amps? I'd guess your Tesla Universal Wall Charger is hard-wired.

    Correct. The Tesla Universal charger needs a 60 A circuit but limits the charge current to 48 A. My two EVs support:
    • 31 A - 2019 Model 3
    • 30 A - 2017 BMW i3-REx
    I already have a NEMA 14-50 powering a JuiceBox 40 Pro but the vendor has abandoned support (and configuration) in North America. The Tesla Universal charger has a load-sharing capability between units to limit total charge current to whatever and when I want.

    I sold my TSLA stock to buy a solar roof. Between the Model 3, Time of Day charging, and the Tesla Universal charger, I will charge either car during the day, the peak solar charging period. As much as possible, excess solar power will be saved in the car batteries. If there is any left over, it goes into the solar battery backup for night access.
