Why not look at deaths and underlying cases? Why not compare the rates between cases and deaths with and without underlying conditions, age group, and with and without vaccines too? This is obviously a virus that is almost exclusively bad for the old and sick. This has been far more of an indictment of underlying conditions (many preventable) than vaccination status. Seriously. Just put 2 and 2 together.

    Source: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/21/the-delta-variant-has-a-mutation-what-we-know-so-far.html

LONDON — A newly-discovered mutation of the delta variant is being investigated in the U.K. amid worries that it could make the virus even more transmissible and undermine Covid-19 vaccines further.

Still, there are many unknowns surrounding this descendent or subtype of the delta variant — formally known as AY.4.2 — which some are dubbing the new “delta plus” variant.

U.K. government health officials have said it’s too early to tell whether the mutation poses a greater risk to public health than the delta variant, which itself is significantly more infectious than the original Covid-19 strain (and its successor, the alpha variant).
    . . .
But last Friday, the U.K.’s Health Security Agency issued a report in which it said “a delta sublineage newly designated as AY.4.2 is noted to be expanding in England.” The agency said it was monitoring the subtype, which includes mutations to the spike protein (A222V and Y145H) that the coronavirus uses to enter our cells.
    . . .
Commenting on “delta plus” on Wednesday, U.S. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky noted that “in particular the AY.4.2 variant has drawn some attention in recent days.” She added that: “we have, on occasion, identified this sub lineage here in the United States, but not with recent increase frequency or clustering, to date.”
    . . .

FYI, @SouthernDude has a different set of goals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias. It turns out that some have such a commitment to their superstitions that confronted with credible facts and data, they ignore or reject these sources.

At age 71, I don't have enough years left to waste on correcting and teaching foolish posters. So we'll let God take care of them:

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. - Matthew 10:29-31

But we can keep them up. Confirmation bias has a weakness, OCD about their fantasies, the tyranny that drives them. So every now and then, poke them with a 'clue by four.'

    Source_2: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-to-convince-someone-when-facts-fail/

Creationists, for example, dispute the evidence for evolution in fossils and DNA because they are concerned about secular forces encroaching on religious faith. Antivaxxers distrust big pharma and think that money corrupts medicine, which leads them to believe that vaccines cause autism despite the inconvenient truth that the one and only study claiming such a link was retracted and its lead author accused of fraud. The 9/11 truthers focus on minutiae like the melting point of steel in the World Trade Center buildings that caused their collapse because they think the government lies and conducts “false flag” operations to create a New World Order. Climate deniers study tree rings, ice cores and the ppm of greenhouse gases because they are passionate about freedom, especially that of markets and industries to operate unencumbered by restrictive government regulations. Obama birthers desperately dissected the president's long-form birth certificate in search of fraud because they believe that the nation's first African-American president is a socialist bent on destroying the country.

Perhaps @SouthernDude will gain insight, hopefully not on an ICE death bed. In the world of problems, the Darwin Award comes to mind.

Ok. So basically I am correct, but you don't want to admit it. lol

  10. LOL, yes, and resorts to irrelevant verbal diarrhea when he can't interpret or refute simple facts and data. Not sure if he knows what 2 and 2 means.

He seems to have a lot in common with your current president...

Nah. It's not verbal diarrhea, it's just projection all over again. He is only curious at looking at information that validates his assumptions while accusing me of doing the same thing.

    https://www.alabamapublichealth.gov/covid19/assets/cov-al-cases-070221na.pdf

The state of Alabama used to publish these daily reports on Covid statistics. For clarification, they are cumulative statistics. Of course, they quit publishing these statistics after 7/2/2021 and I never got a clear answer to why that is (I asked once, but I may ask again to see if I can get my hands on any updated information).

In these cumulative statistics, they included a section that details deaths with no underlying conditions:
    upload_2021-10-25_21-0-26.png

This 253 number is the cumulative number of deaths with no underlying conditions. The overwhelming majority of those deaths were with 65+ people. Only 5.5% of deaths with no underlying conditions happened with people aged 25-49. That is just 14. See how much the picture changes when you start getting more granular with the data? Very odd isn't it. This is why I see no point in people like me - healthy 30 yr olds - taking the vaccine. It doesn't stop me from getting the virus, spreading the virus, nor does it significantly affect my risk with virus.
