Wish I knew about it yesterday...would have went to a local meet, now we will have to take a road trip to get to one this week or next weekend. Good excuse to drive the Kona off of Long Island, NY, US.
I went to the annual big free EV event in San Diego last weekend. They had lots of EV models available for free test drives in a big parking lot area. But they didn't have a Kona EV! They did have a Kia Niro EV, lots of Teslas, Chevy Bolt, and a few others.
I was surprised too that there weren't any Konas. They even had the etron. Next year I'll volunteer mine.
I'm a little late to this party, but I did indeed participate in NDEW. With my Kona EV, all of 2 weeks in on ownership, and already torn apart for various needed modifications and investigations. Some of you might be acquainted with me and my similar exploits from Priuschat and that community back in the day; this is a new phase of vehicle adventure for me. Or more like two phases and a ground, once you dive into what an EVSE does... Just like with the Prius, people who come by at events appreciate the geekdom and being able to see and learn about some of the tech behind it all. I have a ton of photos and notes already, and will probably start turning some of those into webpages soon. I've already learned a few useful things from this and other sites, and have seen the questions that people have been asking, so just like with the Prius I feel the same obligation to give back to those communities. _H*
I'm not sure yet if I'll go.. I'll either have to leave my wife and kids at home or hear them whining that they want to go somewhere to have fun if I'll take them with me... After all, the event is for 4 hours..
Thanks to this thread, I just signed up for one next weekend. Looks like I'll be the only Kona EV there.
Decided to sign up for one local event too. (not really local... it's 45 miles from my home). I will be the only Kona there too but that's not a surprise as I have the only Kona in the entire Tampa Bay Area..
Surprised there aren't more M3s and Leafs. We are over run with them here in the Vancouver area. But you should be a star with your Kona.
There's tons of M3's and Model S around here but they don't seem to go to those meetings. We have about 6 Model 3 and 2 Model S in our work parking garage.
Yeah, enough Tesla's out there to have their own outings, and don't need to mingle with us lowly folks. But the Leaf guys are pretty good (lots of nerds).
I live in a very small neighborhood with about 15 homes and we have 2 EV's in our neighborhood.. One 2016 Leaf and my Kona..
The only thing I don't like about the Leaf guys, is they also like free charging, and are always hogging my spot at the one near my home...
Never seen one in person so far. I know that there is one in the area that is using the same chargers as I do but at different times..
