    I got A01 code at around 6500.

Which means ICE has been used less than 1200 miles.

Is this something dealers can override now?

I complete my A01 service at 7300 miles and after it was on for a few weeks

Most people get their Maintenance Minder A01 codes at around the same mileage. We didn't drive our Clarity that far in a year, so the MM gave us just an A0 (oil change, check things over, but no tire rotation) when the year was up.

As has been complained about in other threads, the MM doesn't care if the engine started even once in that 6500 miles. It doesn't seem to know you're driving a plug-in hybrid.

You can reset the MM codes using instructions on page 479 in the Owners Manual. Dealers, happy to service your Clarity, will reset the MM codes after they complete the A01 service.

My A01 code popped up a bit after 7000 miles and I brought it in at 7500 miles. A little annoyed like everyone else here that the oil and filter had to be changed when I had less than 2000 miles on the ICE. It's not the money. The service was quite reasonable. I just hate wasting oil and a filter. BTW, the dealer adjusted the headlights without me asking about it and I can see much better afterwards. If you're having night visibility issues, have the dealer inspect the headlights (that might have already been part of the service).

So there is no service bulletin to fix this issue?

I would have thought that the range fix (18-91,18-90,18-89,18-96) installed would also resolve this issue.

No. Honda has specifically responded in writing to one poster that the Maintenance Minder is behaving the way it was intended.

I recently got my 2nd A01 Maintenance notice for my 2018 Clarity. Mileage over 12k. Really?? I need to change the oil Again?? Also includes Tire Rotation which I can understand. But Synthetic Oil change at 6500 to 7k Miles??
I am about ready to switch to AMS Oil/ Filter for a 15k oil change Once a Yr!

Try resetting just the tire rotation. Several have posted that doing that will sometimes lengthen the oil change interval since the MM tries to aggregate services into one in order to reduce the number of service visits (and coincidentally improve dealer profit??).

My pleasure. It’s on p 479 in the manual.
Just use the Display/Information and the right/left arrow buttons on the steering wheel to select the Gear Icon. Then hold the Enter button for 10 seconds to enter reset mode. Then use up down arrows to select the individual item to reset instead of resetting all. Press Enter to reset the time you selected. (You can also select Cancel to end the process.)
Repeat as needed for additional items.

So if I just reset code but not do any service will that go against warranty?
If its not required to do oil change at 6500 seems like a waste

If it’s just the tire rotation then all you’ll be putting in jeopardy is the tire tread warranty with Michelin. The idea is that by resetting the tire rotation, the oil change interval will lengthen.
So I’d suggest resetting the tire rotation and if that puts off the oil change then just have the tires rotated. If it doesn’t, then I would have both done. I agree that with such little ICE usage, changing the oil in under a year is a waste of time and resources. But I would be hesitant to give Honda a reason to deny a possible future ICE drive train warranty claim. YMMV and everyone has different aversions to risk.

Fortunately for me I’ve only driven 6,900 miles (only 600 miles and 12.5 hours of ICE in HV) in 11 months, so my MM is saying first service at 12 months from purchase.

  16. I would think warranty is only and issue if you cannot prove you did the maintenance (show receipts at Walmart ect) if you claim to have done the maintenance yourself. For a tire rotation you could say you did it yourself no receipt needed.

Little confused on your comment KentuckyKen.
I got A01 . so if I reset tire rotation .. it will change to A0.. do you mean it will completely go away (lengthen oil change interval)

One person on here reported that when they reset the "1" after the A01 service notification, then it disappeared and said next service in X months (I think for them it was deferred for 2-3 months). It depends on how imminent your 12 month anniversary is since the last oil change. If the car is 11 months old it may only defer it for a few weeks, but if the car is 6 months old it may put it off for 4-5 months.

I agree with above. Resetting just the tire notification at 7000 miles delayed my next service 3 months. I guess I will see what pops up at that time.

Question: do people rotate tires to get maximum life or do you all not rotate and wear out the fronts way faster ?

thanks. the reset instruction in the fat owners manual i ordered are different. There are two sets (assume one for canadian) but none of them match the one here. I will have to look at the other manual they gave with car.

I like in the north (MA) so I swap onto snow tires in Nov/Dec and back to the OEM tires in April, and those swaps allow me to rotate positions so the fronts I take off get put on the rear the next time they are mounted. I tend to drive very mildly so I don't expect tire wear to be a big concern.

Thanks @Ray B, you beat me to it. That’s exactly how it’s reported to work. My MM is showing 3 weeks to A01 at 7,000 miles and 11 months since purchase. I just reset the MM 1 and the A0 (oil change & inspection) did not lengthen but that’s because I’m right at the 1 year mark and have only driven a little I’ve over 7,000 mile in one year.
