  1. With the Hyundai Kona Electric now starting deliveries in Canada, I thought we'd start a thread for people to report in on the deals they got.

This could help others get an idea of what to expect.

The base price listed on the Hyundai Canada is $45,599. Let's see how close to that number customers can get in reality.

  3. Hi,

Went yesterday to my dealership to discuss about the price. So here in Quebec the price with taxes and all other fees is around 62000$
I asked for some discount, winter tires, tinted windows and they were not sure about it. They told me they will get back to me.
For the moment, I think the supply is too low for the demand so they will not move.

That price sounds like the lower level model and not the Ultimate.

  6. Yes, that's the base price listed on Hyundai Canada's website. (Interestingly, with the exchange (U.S. $34,390), it's less than the U.S. price of $36,450.)
The Ultimate starts out at $51,999.

Our dealer just got the first Kona Electric in and we are allowed to take a peak. Just leaving now to look but not touch as it is sold.
Just got back. (I was so excited about going to see it that I forgot to send the above post).lol My husband and I were very pleased with the car. I would say it is classy and chunky and solid looking--perhaps a little shorter than we had envisioned. It was Ceramic Blue with the Pebble Blue and grey interior which looks absolutely super--same colour as our order. The grey looks almost white depending on the angle of the light. The blue contrast in the interior is a subtle blue that is almost grey looking at times. There is greyish blue piping on the seats which looks nice. The charcoal black trim over the wheel wells and up on the pillars looks nice. Nice enough that I likely won't go with a white wrap on the roof.

The sunroof is nice but small and really makes the car seem open and airy. The seats (I sneaked a sit down when no one was looking) were comfy and spacious and I am not slim. The wireless charging pad was big enough for my Samsung Note 8 in a case and big enough for my husband's iphone XS Max with a Speck case. (We didn't see it charging as the car wasn't turned on). The car had been plugged into a level 2 charger 3 hours ago at 0 or next O % and was at 73% and 320 kilometers. We are pleased with our purchase and it looks like about 2 weeks more until we get ours.

I think there are a few spec differences between the USA and Canadian versions. I know the UK versions gets a powered passenger seat and I read somewhere that the US version does not get a heat pump or battery heater, not sure if this is true though. I was quoted the MSRP for the Ultimate with standard paint (Pulse Red), $51,999 and $1,805 for freight and $395 for the doc fee. They quoted $90 for locking wheel nuts. Grand total after taxes and rebate is $55,943.68, ouch!

Sounds about the same as our price. We do have powered passenger seat and heat pump in Canada on the Ultimate. No heat pump in the States.

  11. That works out to $42,198 in US dollars, if that helps make it sound better.

I can't find anything in the documentation that lists a powered passenger seat. Did you see it on the Kona you looked at?

I forgot to check, but I thought I read long ago that the passenger seat had some electric features. I just texted to ask. When I hear, I will let you know.

Well I think that the passenger seat has power heating and cooling. After that I don't think there is anything.

  19. $62,168.04 (including taxes) at my dealer in Ontario. And, yes, that includes some extortionate "add-ons" the dealer stuck in there. We have no incentives in Ontario (anymore).

I don't mean I like the price per se, but that you got some goodies in lieu of no incentives.

  21. You're sweet to think I have negotiating super powers (I wish) but perhaps I wasn't clear. I meant the price was already ridiculously high but the still stuck me with charges for worthless lock nuts and "etching". Why do dealers delight in making me feel like a putz?

I thought you were able to extort the dealer for a whole bunch of stuff. lol But from our own experience I should have known better. We were total losers in attempting to get much of anything tossed in. We are going to get our all weather tires at dealer price and free install. That was our success story after losing $5,000 in the trade in since making our order in July.

  23. Free install. What's that a minute and a half of their time? Thanks alot Hyundai lol
