I just got my Clarity PHEV on Thursday and already received a call from the dealership today (Monday) saying that a new service bulletin was just received on Friday, and I need to bring the car back in to them ASAP for a software update. Is there any word of a new service bulletin or did the dealership just forget to apply an old software update before giving me the car? I've got a feeling its the latter and they are trying to save face by saying its a new update that just came out.
Probably the latter. I don't see anything on the safercar.gov website. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I'm going to do my due diligence when I take it in this evening. If it turns out they forgot to install some software updates I might try to use that as leverage to get some free all weather floor mats. For example: "Mr. Car Salesman, I was planning on giving you all 10/10 ratings in the Honda follow up survey, but this extra trip back to the dealership has been such an inconvenience. Boy, it would be nice if I could go home with some all weather floor mats to make this visit more worthwhile!"
Hahaha..good luck and let us know how it goes (and also whether there is a new bulletin out) Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
When I took the car in, they updated the PCM Software with "Safety Recall 18-090". I asked the tech what the update was for and he mumbled something about a water valve control and "a few other things". Sorry I couldn't get much more info!
Same thing happened to me. I was told that the car would not counted as sold in this month by Honda until the update is done. So there is some incentive there.
Brought mine in to do the HV range estimate and Plug-in Charging System fixes, and hoping they would document the XM not working when remote starting (they did, and someone else had already come in with the same problem so it's sent up the line). They pulled the VIN and had the list of the four SBs but not the Charging one. But since I had come in before for the problem, they pulled it and are applying all 5 SB fixes. I guess it's patch Tuesday after all..
